Checks only. For the Federal government

We know that many organization, businesses, clinics, do not take personal checks. Only debit and credit cards.

Several weeks ago I stopped at one of these local offices that take payments to apply for a passport. Mine was going to expire any day.

I had the forms, I had the photographs... do you have your checkbook? I was asked. No. I never carry it these days.

Well, the government, at least, the passport processing center, accepts only checks.

Another person there helped me with the process. Stapled the photo, called my attention of whether I want to expedite (yes, I did) extra payment and a different address.

I was notified by email when the started the process, when they issued it and yesterday, after two weeks I had it.

I have no plans for travel any time soon, but it is important to have a valid passport in my hands.
