Trump move to dismantle climate agency blows up Senate funding deal.

A potential deal to fund large swaths of the federal government, including the Departments of Defense and Health and Human Services, collapsed on Thursday night after Colorado senators demanded that Congress stop President Trump’s efforts to dismantle a key climate agency.

A Democratic senator involved in the negotiations over passing a five-bill package of appropriations bills before Christmas said that Trump’s attempt to break up a premier weather and climate center based in Boulder, Colo., was like a “stick of dynamite” that exploded any chance of a bipartisan breakthrough on spending.

Colorado Sens. Michael Bennet (D) and John Hickenlooper (D) objected to moving forward with the so-called minibus spending package that, if enacted into law, would result in 85 to 90 percent of the federal government being funding through September of 2026.

“We need to fix this problem,” Bennet said, explaining his opposition to moving forward with the spending package. “We’ll have to work together. We’ll have to work together to figure out how do this

Good for Colorado, there's no doubt in my mind that the proposed dismantling of this climate center in Boulder, CO. is because Colorado officials won't bend to Flim Flam Man's demand to release Tina Peters or transfer her to the Feds, which would be a release.

Dismantling the National Center for Atmospheric Research is catastrophic. Good on those fighting back.

It's a long video, but he talks about the importance of NCAR and what would be lost if it is dismantled.

refuse to see what's creeping up behind them, all they want is a super small government where the
almighty dollar solves all their troubles.

so that private companies can extort hundreds of billions of dollars for the information that is freely available today as part of the commons.

And, of course, they also want to silence any voices that speak the truth about our climate damage.

went to the Senate, and in my opinion just sat there......We haven't heard much out of them all this time..........

We only recently started hearing about Bennet because he is running for Governor of Colorado, and for whatever reason, abandoning his Senate position......I am sure he will just sit tight in the U.S. Senate, if he loses the election for Governor.....
Great situation, when he, like all other elected officials, can spend their entire time running for a different elected office, and not doing the job they still are able to retain, while running their election campaign.....

We also don't hear much about our Denver U.S. House Representative.....DeGette

and Moses Mikey Johnson has adjourned the House so, near as I can determine, the threat of a Govt. shutdown on 2/1/2026 is still a very real possibility.
