"I can't believe this is America": U.S. Veteran who voted for Trump says ICE arrest of his wife shattered everything he

https://wtfdetective.blog/veteran-cant-believe-america-ice-arrest/

“Why did you vote for him?” a member of Congress asked.

“Because I was an idiot,” the veteran replied. “Evangelical Christian people were lied to, if you really want to know the truth. And that’s exactly what happened.” He said he believed deportations would only target criminals, but instead his wife — someone devoted to serving others — was detained. “My wife and I, when we don’t work, we’re ministers. We help the needy. That’s what we do. And that’s who they’re arresting.”

Almost all the MAGA voters refused to see who they were voting for as well what they were voting for. My sympathy for them is paper-thin at best: they not only voted for Donald John but they took the rest of us with them.

When reason, logic, morality, and appeals to their higher selves fail like nine-pins, there’s always pain, and the wounds were self-inflicted.

I could be naive but I feel Christians should at least know what Jesus is all about. DJT's message isn't Christian. But then the mitigating circumstances here are there are too many false preachers in the Christian community that are teaching falsehoods. Especially this "prosperity gospel" stuff. So if you have these false preachers leading their flock to DJT... I get it. It's not just DJT... It's the whole right wing so-called Evangelical community.

But even I, as a fully documented, "natural born" American (with no ties to anyone undocumented that I'm aware of) understood what would be coming.

When you listen to magats, it always boils down to the same reasons. Rarely (if ever) do they mention crime. They were concerned about a hypothetical trans person joining a girls' soccer team, or they were full of jealousy when they heard about undocumented individuals (who literally have nothing) receiving a voucher to stay at a New York hotel on a freezing cold night. Sometimes they even throw in the nonsense excuse of wanting to stop abortion.

I wonder if the people who became radicalized when the undocumented were given temporary housing ever considered what it would look like if the undocumented, who were transported to New York under false pretenses, were not given housing and were instead left to starve and freeze on the street. Is that the type of country they want to live in?

That type of cruel approach is 100% out of step with biblical teaching, by the way. The Bible specifically references how people should treat foreigners.

Especially people who are living fairly comfortably but don't like that they still have to budget.
I mean, all those influencers and TV shows have working middle class folks like them able to just brunch at the coffee shop with friends every day, buy whatever they need for their Chi-Chi homemade dinners, or go out on a monthly date night - pay for a babysitter, dinner and movie - and still not have to worry about paying rent/mortgage, utilities, groceries, auto, insurance, medical bills, ect...
It's a matter of petulance for them. They aren't getting what they want, so f' helping lesser people who don't deserve the help anyway.
If they died in the street, it serves them right.

It’s about driving away voters, which is exactly what insulting them does. The result is another Republican administration, which isn’t a logical goal of Democrats. Yet people care more about anger and vengeance than winning. This is the continual response to disillusioned Trump voters, which suggests people either can’t control their emotions or don’t know how to win. Either way, the result is increased authoritarianism and death.

After the fall of Germany during world war 2 many Germans still loved Hitler but they passed strict laws and made sure people learned history the good and the bad. After the civil war in the United States , we let them up easy and we are still seeing the south trying to rise again. Just like their bible apparently says. Are they still fixated on Ussher's Year 4004?

There are dozens of forums for special interests. Also, hundreds of OPs a day on various issues. You have picked this one to comment on - and threaten us with your departure if we don't pull ourselves together. Interesting from a 2 post new member.

This motherfecker knew exactly what he was voting for unless he slept through Trump’s first term. He clearly wanted Trump to enact his entire agenda as long as it benefited him, not hurt him. Selfish pieces of shit like this guy get no sympathy from me. I am fresh out of fucks to give.

You were “lied to”? You didn’t listen to anybody else?

You didn’t read the warnings from so many people who knew him and how he deceived people and how there was coverage about all the holes in his assertions?

You didn’t watch anything other than Pox Noise?

What worries me most is how too many people will allow themselves to be conned again, either by him or those coming after him who want what he got (or conned you for, or lied to you about, or just flat-out stole from you and all the rest of us).

These people only care when an issue directly affects them. How laughable that he would hold himself up as some sort of representative of faith. Screw him and screw his wife. There are better people to worry about.

The Dotard said he was going to do everything that he is doing! These assholes ignored the parts they didn't want to hear, and now whine that they were lied to. They were lied to... BY THEMSELVES.
