Connie Chung slammed CBS executives, including Bari Weiss and David Ellison, calling their greedy leadership responsible for the networks decline.
The former CBS News anchor said the networks uncertain future distresses [her] terribly on Thursdays episode of the Pablo Torre Finds Out podcast. She added she no longer watches the network: I cant.
The paradigm has completely changed in news, and we have so much opinion, she said. The truth doesnt have value anymore.
It distresses me so terribly, she said. CBS is a whole different organization that I had worked for. CBS has now been taken over, thanks to greedy owners, Shari Redstone, partnering with David Ellison.

(2,067 posts)They get only 10% of the "television" viewership, and that includes lots of sports programming.

Meanwhile younger generations are consuming much more from streaming and podcasts. If we were to look at where people aged 20-60 have their eyeballs, I bet the legacy networks would be way under 10%
Other than Sports programming, the only thing I ever see on the legacy networks might be the occasional segment of Kimmel or Colbert, but even that is mostly Youtube clips.

(552 posts)John Oliver did a detailed take down of her on Last Week Tonight weeks ago which you can see on Youtube. I'm surprised CBS didn't fire her over his embarrassing revelations.

(114,318 posts)A new owner swans in with a new team, picks some idiot who promises to peel the old white men in the suburbs off Pox and Newsmax and deliver them to either network, and trashes the news room staff. The vaguely liberal urban viewers who are the backbone of their demographic abandon them quickly as the reporting turns to shit, the advertisers notice the bad numbers and bail, there is a top management shakeup and things very quietly start to go back to normal.
I'm sure Mis Weiss will land on her feet and find some other corporation to fuck up.
