CA-GOV: Swalwell, Porter lead Democratic candidates for California governor: Poll

California Rep. Eric Swalwell (D) and former Rep. Katie Porter (D) are the two leading Democratic candidates for governor of the Golden State, according to a new poll.

The new survey from Emerson College Polling and Inside California Politics found Swalwell, who entered the race only recently, neck and neck with Porter among Democrats in the crowded field. Swalwell received support from 12 percent of voters, while Porter had the support of 11 percent.

Porter is still viewed more favorably by voters by 6 percentage points.

Meanwhile, Republican Chad Bianco, the former sheriff of Riverside County, led the entire field at 13 percent. His closest GOP rival is Steve Hinton, who had 12 percent support.
