So what happens when we awaken one morning and

find that He has demolished the statue of Abraham Lincoln inside the Memorial and has commissioned a statue of himself?

So you think it cannot happen? What if I had posted six months ago that he demolished the East Wing of the venerated White House? Would you have taken me seriously or thought it was some brand of typical PCIntern hyperbole?

Do you understand that I have just asked four, now five, questions? Is there a problem with that? No? And why not?

And you know what that reminds me of?

The gentile says to the rabbi, “Why is it that you people always answer a question with a question?”

“Do we?” answers the rabbi.

Do you think he could raise enough money to pay for a statue of himself, as he did with the ballroom?

Do you think the parks service, which controls the Memorial (but not the WH), not to mention the DC police, will sit by idly as the Lincoln statue is torn down?

Just because you can imagine something and type it on the internet, does not make that thing possible, plausible or probable.

No matter what you might imagine, it doesn’t change this one absolute truth:

Trump is not omnipotent, and the states and the people are not powerless

Sat Nov 29, 2025, 03:53 PM

So the argument that this couldn't happen "because money" is not especially compelling.

I *absolutely* could imagine IQ47 WANTING to do exactly what PCIntern suggests. You are right to say "that don't make it so", of course. But it's not preposterous to suggest he might do that, because demolishing the Rose Garden and the East Wing are already done, and at least in the case of the East Wing, there were steps that SHOULD have happened beforehand, which did not. And he has his cronies everywhere, including the Park Service. Ergo it's not hard to imagine that their "standing idly by" could indeed happen.

Also, your last statement, though true, is not proof any particular thing cannot happen. Clearly Trump is able to accomplish a great deal of evil despite the public having a non-zero amount of power. We only have power in certain arenas/aspects, and this may not be one of them

A valid Venn diagram to illustrate this point could be easily conjured.

This administration commits atrocities daily, and is depending on our exhaustion for their success.

While Trump has much power, he has very little actual control beyond the executive branch.

Self-care is critical for effective resistance, so yes, I do my best to get a good night’s sleep, and that is no measure of, or reflection of my conscience.

To answer your question on a more personal level, oftentimes over the last 21 years I’ve been here, I have made statements which turned out to be true, which were first negated when proffered. I am not alone in that regard, many people here have said things which are at first criticized for their negativity, and then grudgingly accepted as occurrence.

There wasn’t even a peep of disgust out of the talking heads when he demolished the East Wing with reckless abandon. Pieces from the structure itself had value. Who knows what they did with the furnishings and art. My guess is it did not go back into the wH inventory. If it can be stolen it will be. Imagine Lincoln melted down before the memo goes out that it is missing.

OMG, please not the iconic Lincoln memorial. People come from all over the country and world to visit the memorial, have their pictures taken at the foot of Lincoln's monument.

Yet Trump has already boasted he's a far better president than Lincoln or Washington ever were.

It's only the lack of imagination to think the Narcissist-in-Chief wouldn't be tempted to replace Lincoln's likeness with his own, the self-proclaimed King gazing over his conquered territory.

If you have ever been hit really hard in the face, it can be a stunning blow. It takes a bit to clear your head and re-focus. America is getting hit in the face continually, metaphorically speaking, with all the outrageous and over the top actions and antics of this president and his merry band of inept staffers. I hope that most of the country will come back to reality soon and realize, 'yes, he is as horrible as we thought' and get to work getting rid of him. Not sure how long that will take though and I'm hoping the thin line of the court system holds him in check long enough for us to recover................

I have come to accept that this regime, supported by a shameful cohort of ignorant, selfish, hateful American citizens, is going to burn it all down. Before you chide me for my seeming pessimism, I should probably share that my predominant philosophy is that the glass is not only half full, I am blessed with my own personal beer fairy who generously leaves the other 5 1/2 cans of the six pack chilling in my frig. I accept that there may be tremendous heartbreak before we can reach Mount Doom and dispose of the ring. My focus is on what kind of country do we want to rebuild. I want an end to the Electoral College which gives substantial over representation to the minority of rural voters. I want term limits. I want a strict code of conduct for justices appointed to our Supreme Court, as well as censure mechanisms with teeth. I want universal health care, liveable wage structures, an end to the Citizens United. I want a public school system that is first class. I want private equity firms out of the residential real estate market. I want genuine equality and inclusiveness. I want to redefine the role of POTUS and a cap on the powers accorded to that position. I want to focus on how we rebuild, not with a "wish list" but with a concrete list of demands and the courage to not back down.

I think it might be prudent to have at least an age cap. McConnell, Grassley, and a few others should be enjoying their remaining years sitting on their front porches, drinking bourbon, and making farting noises at their neighbors, rather than on the national stage. I admired Diane Feinstein but she far exceeded her expiration date. Capacity to serve is a relevant attribute, I'm just not certain how we define that.

For some reason, he is selling this as eradicating "Biden filth and incompetence".

When will it be enough?

Trump suggests he and Burgum will ‘fix’ Lincoln Reflecting Pool

(The Hill) – President Trump said Wednesday he and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum will “fix” the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in Washington, D.C.

The president posted a video of workers attending to the pool, with “Time to Say Goodbye” by Andrea Bocelli playing in the background, to his Truth Social Platform. Near the end of the video, the caption “Make D.C. Beautiful Again” pops up.

“This is the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool before Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum and I fix it,” Trump said. “Study it hard because you won’t be seeing this Biden filth and incompetence much longer!”

The pool, located east of the Lincoln Memorial on the National Mall, was completed in 1923. It is the largest reflecting pool in the nation’s capital.
