Trump ended a program in February that allowed Afghans that helped US forces to come to the US

Causing them to be stuck in limbo in foreign countries.

Also prior to this shooting, ICE has been detaining Afghan immigrants per numerous news reports from across the country.

We don’t yet know the shooters motive, but we all know that if an Afghan helped US troops against the Taliban, they or their relatives would not fare well if they were returned to Afghanistan.

But if that was his motive, the people he shot had nothing to do with that,

2. Anyone that was employed by the CIA in Afghanistan

especially in one of the "Death Squad" units ( which I have read this shooter was involved with, yet to be verified ) likely faces a death sentence if they are returned to Afghanistan ( or possibly even if a family member is returned to Afghanistan ).

We don't know yet, but as soon as I heard he was from Afghanistan, I wondered if he or a family member got a deportation notice from ICE.
