Recently a Campbell's Soup senior Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer Martin Bally was caught on a hot mic recording his words for over an hour in which he says some pretty insane things:
He also referenced "bioengineered meat," saying, "I dont wanna eat a piece of chicken that came from a 3D printer."
He also says some pretty racist stuff about Indians that I will not repeat here.
All in all its pretty disgusting.
This was brought to light by company whistle blower Robert Garza, a former security analyst with the company that was fired after he reported the incident and Mr. Garza is now suing Campbell's for wrongful termination.

If I wanted to make a recipe from 1972, I might get a can of campbells.
Or if I wanted a day's worth of sodium in two spoonfulls of soup that tastes like aluminium. Otherwise, I'll just make my own; thank you very much.
His drug fueled racist rant not-with-standing.

(75,536 posts)Their cans are made of low carbon steel.
That's why the magnet from the can opener sticks to them.

(52,433 posts)It's a rhetorical device. Doesn't sound the same with low carbon steel.
To be fair, my taste buds aren't sophisticated enough to know the difference between low carbon steel and aluminum anyway.

I don't think I'll run the experiment just now ...

(4,205 posts)veggie of choice, simmer until soft, stick an immersion blender in until its blended, add some cream. Adjust seasoning. I usually use miso for the salty component. You could put some garlic in the onion sauté, minced if youre lazy. I would use butter, coconut, or olive oil to sauté, depending on your flavor preferences.
Campbells is a bunch of salt and cheap inflammatory vegetable oils.

(179 posts)I've eaten Campbell's soup my whole life. It did and still does taste better than any other soup to me from the store brand el-cheapo soup to the foo-foo fancy stuff. To me the gold standard was Campbell's. Dammit

(6,060 posts)I add preheated frozen mixed vegetables (discarding the lima beans) and vegetable cocktail instead of water. Add a little salsa sauce to taste - yummy.
I know it has a lot of sodium so I only have half a can per serving and have always cut down on sodium on other foods.
My BP is OK so I don't worry about it too much...

(2,622 posts)Take it and all Campbells products back to the store.
If this is true, we were being lied to by Campbells.
If false, their damage control stinks!
Either way, I have lost confidence in Campbells.
Mmm Mmm Bad!

(50,582 posts)Customers might decide against buying Campbell's soups for recipes like green bean casserole. There are many competitors.
I'll post the racist stuff he said about Indians. Enough DUers know I'm Indian.
The recording also allegedly captured Bally admitting he came to work after consuming marijuana edibles.
Garza said the exchange left him feeling "pure disgust."

(12,956 posts)Same thing. My husband eats those soups I told him about this.
I make a huge pot for myself of homemade soup twice a month and freeze in individual containers. I told him I would start doing for him too, before he liked the canned soups probably because of all the salt.
I told him I can add anything he wants but at least be real ingredients.
