Indiana Professor Removed From Class Over White Supremacy Lesson

A professor who showed a graphic labeling the “Make America Great Again” slogan as covert white supremacy has been removed from teaching a class under a new Indiana law meant to foster “intellectual diversity.”

The professor’s lesson came to light after an Indiana University student filed a complaint with a U.S. senator, Jim Banks, a staunch ally of President Trump. The senator then contacted the campus.

The graphic is a widely used illustration that shows a pyramid with examples of statements and behavior that might be considered overt or covert white supremacy.

The senator’s intervention led the university’s School of Social Work to suspend the professor, Jessica Adams, from teaching the class, called “Diversity, Human Rights and Social Justice.” Ms. Adams said the intent of the graphic had been misinterpreted.

I won't say that I agree that everything in that triangle is necessarily white supremacy, but that little snowflake MAGA student should have made arguments challenging the professor if he disagreed.

A free and open exchange of ideas.

In other words, the way college should (used to) be.

Indy would have quit his professorship and moved to a university that believed in academic freedom and shared his distaste for things Fascist.

A bigoted narrow minded politician gets a weeping letter from a whimpering punk and the University folds? I would ask, rhetorically "Have they no shame?" But the answer is self evident.

There has been a lot of turmoil at IU this year. First, a conference on medical issues in LGBTQ patients was canceled. Next, the faculty advisor to the student newspaper was fired, and the student staff was told only to report campus news, not national and international news. The students ignored this, and the faculty advisor is suing the university. Now this. The fascists in the state legislature want to control what's being taught.

It's very sad to see major universities turn flaccid in defense of academic freedom.

What if this went further and it can be proven in court that maga is a white nationalist movement?

At first glance, this might appear to be an attempt to foster a wide range of viewpoints and perspectives

Wrong.

This law was passed in order to require Universities to hire Profs who are flat-earthers, creationists, and social Darwinians
It means you don’t hire Profs who might encourage critical thinking, or Profs who might hurt MAGA fee-fees.
