All expectations are that the seat will ultimately go to a Republican, but I think the results of this race are worth keeping an eye on to see how close (or how far) from 50% the Democrat gets.
Presuming no candidate gets over 50%, the top two will have a run off.
The district appears to have generally fallen into a range somewhere between 60/40 R/D to 55/45 R/D.
It was redistricted in 2023, so the demographics have changed, but I think that if Rehmet ends up falling somewhere between 46% and 51%, it is very bad news for Texas Republicans in general.
It will be awhile before meaningful results are in, but if you are looking for something to check out as the results from local races you may be interested in come in, this might be one worth taking a peak at.

Wambsganss received about $450,000 from Texans United for a Conservative Majority PAC, a committee started by Republican Texas oil tycoons Tim Dunn and Farris Wilks.

Huffmans war chest is almost entirely funded by the Texas Sands PAC, a political action committee pushing for legalized gambling in Texas. Since July, the PAC has given Huffman $1.2 million. That money is bankrolled by billionaire Miriam Adelson, a major Trump donor whose family owns the Dallas Mavericks and casino company Las Vegas Sands.
James Talarico frequently points the finger at Dunn and Wilks as the billionaires hellbent on destroying public education. I am not up on the specifics, but my impression is that they are systematically taking over school boards and state legislature seats to shovel public education dollars into voucher programs for private Christian Nationalist schools.
I wish people were more turned off by politicians who so clearly have no interest in representing their constituents. They are tools for the billionaires bankrolling them.
