Really American Host Kenny Hesse breaks down a MAGA Mom on SNAP going viral after she blasted her family for refusing to lend her grocery money because she voted for Donald Trump.

(1,037 posts)Which proves the point of the Project 2025 people that the general population is too stupid to govern themselves. All these plebians will drag democracy into the ground. Therefore, everything needs to be privatized and run by billionaires.

(19,907 posts)But, if this was someone other than herself, I'm not certain that she would care. Remember, she did this to herself, to her family, and also to others with her vote.
As for myself, I don't care one iota about her (whatever that says about me), but her children are the innocents.

(22,148 posts)This is not a "both sides" situation. There are funds available to keep SNAP going for a while. All Schlump has to do is say the word, and the funds will be released. He's not doing it, because he doesn't care how many people starve
Imo, this is all on him.

(5,564 posts)That could fund 10 weeks of SNAP, and there are whatever tariff revenues incoming to the executive branch. This issue is BS from the Electoral college and uneven representation fromt he Senate. Our national budgets should be on auto renewal with cpi adjustments if no spending measure is passed in time. That is how most civilized nations have this process handled. Belgium ran on buget autopilot for multiple years and maybe even with the parament not operating, there is no excuse for these debt and budget cliffs.

(16,912 posts)But it's not up to her family to take care of her either since she's clearly an adult. She needs to understand that THIS is what she voted for. My guess would be that she'd vote for Trump for a third term.
I have a limited amount of compassion and I am careful where I use it. I won't be using it on the MAGA's who didn't bother to try to understand the issues yet simply did what they thought would hurt the most of the people they despise.

Why should anyone have sympathy for her plight?
ShazzieB
(22,148 posts)I wouldn't have any sympathy if I knew for a fact that she voted for Trump knowing that something like this might happen. But I'm pretty sure that's not the case. I think she drank the kool-aid and fell for his promises that he was going to make things all better. That was a dumb thing to do, but she's just one among millions.
Of course, every citizen has the responsibility to fully inform themselves before voting, at least in theory. But a lot of people don't do that, and that syndrome is not limited to MAGA. It sucks, but I think starvation is a pretty harsh penalty for being a low information voter.
In fact, I don't think anyone deserves to starve. Even people convicted of heinous crimes get 3 meals a day, and starving them would quickly (and rightly) be ruled cruel and unusual punishment. As frustrated as I am with MAGA and other Republican voters, I don't wish starvation on anyone.
SSJVegeta
(2,240 posts)They arent reminded enough how horrible the consequences of misusing that responsibility can be. It is terrible that too many are being reminded in such a terrible way. But that doesnt ever take away our primary responsibility to each other as human beings.
Bettie
(19,219 posts)voted for him KNOWING that he would harm people. They actively wished for harm to others, but are now shocked, shocked, I tell you, that he's harming THEM as well as the people they wanted hurt.
They wished harm on others. While, I don't wish harm on her (and others like her), I don't really have any sympathy for people receiving the consequences of their actions.
Do I think they should starve? No. I doubt her family would actually let it go that far, but saying no might make her think a little bit...well, probably not, but they'll likely not let her die of starvation. Maybe she'll learn, but again, probably not.

It might sound absurd but we can remind them through our kindness and love that none of this is a game. And we are not the enemy. Neither are they...

I know where I can get good groceries that can last a family a good long while for $100 - $150. IId be happy to get them delivered, if need be; did that for friends in a financial bind between paydays in the past.
I (and other family members) actually wouldn't trust our two MAGA relatives (if they were on SNAP) not to go crazy buying more wasteful, expensive junk food or go "out to eat" every meal because it's "treat money from family" - like birthday or gift money or they can't buy like that on SNAP.
And they'll just keep asking for more next week because "it's an emergency, and we're family"...

MAGA voters can go to hell. But I suppose they can go to a food bank if bootstraps, mass firings, tariffs, and mass deportations aren't making America great enough for them. Idiots

(499 posts)voted for Trump in her situation suggests she's not very bright. Is it her fault she was born dumb? I think not. And her and others like her may very well turn on Maga because of this. We're in a 5 alarm fire and we need as many as we can get to support our cause, regardless of how they voted in '24.
Reveling in her and others suffering is something administration officials and the most hard core Magas do. It will serve us well not to be like them in this regard.
However, it's very hard to come up with even an ounce of compassion for "April" who takes sadistic pleasure in the suffering of others. She is so sick, she can't even keep it to herself, she has to put it on the internet for all the world to see.
