"Obama didnt put me up to it, it wasnt my fundraiser," Clooney says.
By Shania Russell
George Clooney is slamming Hunter Biden for voicing "outright lies" in his expletive-filled rant attacking the actor for his 2024 presidential election op-ed.
Earlier this year, Hunter made headlines for angrily calling out Clooney's New York Times op-ed titled, "I Love Joe Biden, but We Need a New Nominee," which called for his father Joe Biden to drop out of last year's presidential race. Hunter defended his dad and directed a "f--- you" at Clooney several times in an interview published roughly a year after the consequential essay.

Elsewhere in the conversation, Clooney shared his thoughts on the decision to appoint Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee, pointing out that he suggested an open primary in his 2024 op-ed.
"I think the mistake with it being Kamala is she had to run against her own record," Clooney explained. "Its very hard to do if the point of running is to say, 'I'm not that person.' Its hard to do, and so she was given a very tough task. I think it was a mistake, quite honestly. But, we are where we are. We were gonna lose more House seats, they say. So, I dont know."

He is another college drop out born on third base that thinks he's Henry Kissenger. Fuck this guy. Seriously, fuck him. Joe Biden is patriot. George Clooneg is Benedict Arnold without Saratoga to his name.

I can't imaging how someone can be so lacking in self-respect that they would defend a celebrity who doesn't know they exist, or care about them if they did. They are just poor pathetic people.

Of course, Hunter will defend his father. Like it or not, the Biden presidency had incredible accomplishments. How soon we forget.

(12,512 posts)Here we go, another round of the "Democratic Circular Firing Squad" game! Had George Clooney kept his concerns private instead of airing it out in the NYT op-ed section, things would have been different. And because he stirred that pot, there was no time to do an open primary. It couldn't have been organized in time.

(1,025 posts)We couldn't have even organized caucuses in that short a time. What we should have done is allowed several candidates to make their cases to the party power brokers/convention delegates (with input from ordinary registered Democrats through public polling) and chosen the most promising of them at the convention - it should not have just been handed to Kamala.

(1,866 posts)We need to move on.
Biden did great things in his term as president, lifting us out of the disaster that was covid and helping the country recover as much as it could. It was ALWAYS going to be a tough road and we were never going to be in a perfect place 4 years later because the entire planet was hit with a global pandemic. Biden helped us recover and did many great things during his 4 years.
He also made a mistake in not announcing he would not seek a second term right after the midterms. By the time he did withdraw, there was no time to hold a full primary. Kamala was the only possible one who could run and she had to hit the ground running, and she did the best she possibly could despite Joe waiting until the 11th hour to drop out.
There is nothing we can do now but learn from these mistakes. Clooney is not helping matters by making this the conversation right now. Why is he not using his presence and visibility and influence to talk about how R's are allowing people to go hungry for a month, without pay for a month? Allow them to lose health care coverage? That should be the conversation, not beating the dead horse of 2024.
I think we are in both a terrible place right now as a country where many are suffering, but also potentially a place where people may realize that their vote they made in 2024 might need some rethinking as they go to the polls again in 2026 and 2028. When the economy is bad and people are unhappy, we usually have a "change" year. I think that could lead to us having good results in 2026 and 2028 if we keep our eye on the ball.

(32,300 posts)opinion piece in the New York Times, suggesting that President Biden should drop out of the presidential race after his poor performance in the 1st debate
My question is this:
Why did Hunter Biden wait a full year to publicly comment on George Clooney's July, 2024 NYT op-ed piece?
Why didn't he "lash out" at Clooney then, back in 2024?
Am I missing something?
