Democrats forced Trump to pay SNAP Benefits and are standing strong to STOP Obamacare Premiums from MORE THAN DOUBLING

Message to the Republicans (or "non-politicals" ) in your life:

23 Democratic AGs and 3 Republican AGs forced Trump to pay SNAP Benefits.

44 Democrats and 1 Independent are standing strong to STOP Obamacare Premiums from MORE THAN DOUBLING.

Democrats won on SNAP and will win on Health Care with YOUR HELP.

If you have a Republican Senator, tell them: EXTEND the Health Care Subsidies and FUND THE GOVERNMENT NOW!

If you have a Republican Representative, tell them to demand that Mike Johnson end his cowardly RECESS, bring the House into Session and Vote to EXTEND the Health Care Subsides and FUND THE GOVERNMENT NOW!

The lawsuit brought by the 26 attorneys general (25 state and 1 D.C.) was heard by Massachusetts U.S. District Judge Indira Talwan. In ruling on their motion for an injunction pending full hearing, she found a likelihood of success on the merits, that they will suffer irreparable harm without the injunction, that the balance of hardships favors them, and that the injunction is not adverse to the public interest. Having met the burden, she found the USDA is required by law to tap into the emergency money to make at least partial payments, and gave the administration until Monday to tell the court whether it planned to do so.

There was another ruling on the matter in a case brought by cities and community groups. In that case Rhode Island U.S. District Judge John McConnell ruled from the bench that the USDA must fund SNAP using money in a contingency fund. But, he added that if the department finds that the money in the contingency fund is insufficient, then the agency must use other funding sources to make those payments. An entry on the case docket said the court "orders the USDA to distribute contingency funds" and directs government attorneys to file a status report by noon on Monday.

I think that there are mandatory injunctions (order to do something) and prohibitory injunctions (order not to do something). It's a little unclear to me which these were. I've seen it worded as an injunction against a funding freeze and an order that they tap into the funds.

Doesn't really matter, because not long after the rulings came out Trump said that "with the courts' guidance" or some such bullshit, they'll be paying.

What else could he do? Appeal and prove how truly hellbent they are on starving people?

Federal judges abilities for forcing nationwide action was greatly limited by SCOTUS earlier this year.

We're off the map at this point, I have no idea what happens next.

They said "We'd like to pay snap benefits, but it wouldn't be legal." It's the Democrats fault that we are not paying.

Now they've been given the go ahead to pay.

So, either they appeal and expose the magnitude of the lie: "We'd like to pay, but our hands are tied," or they pay, and take a "mea culpa" on the lie that it wouldn't be legal.

I don't think there is another lawsuit in which they are being sued to do a thing they claim they want to do but can't. Their position on the other illegal and unconstitutional things they are being sued for is: "We must do X because Y, and we have the power to do X."

I think their hand has been forced. And they should have realized it would play out this way. They knew they had both the legal authority and legal obligation to pay. Did they really think the Democrats would just cave in the face of such a blatantly immoral and unlawful act?

Perhaps they are cruel and stupid enough to appeal, and thereby prove how hellbent they are to starve people, but I think they realize they seriously fucked up and have been exposed. Their best bet is to quickly pay and then bomb Venezuela to grab headlines before their lies and cruelty -- unnecessarily terrorizing SNAP recipients, and then falsely attempting to blame democrats for the harm -- sink in with the public.

Should be the exact message from each and every Democrat ALL day EVERY DAY! Don’t let the other side manipulate the truth (lie) and blame us for the shutdown and the SNAP freeze! And they should take the credit for the lawsuits against the SNAP freeze and forcing trump to backdown. We can’t let him look like the hero in this tragedy!.

I did make sure I took classic A and B + Supplement. God knows what they are going to do to Medicare Advantage, but it must be awful because next step is to force as many people onto it as they can before decimating it. Can't recall exactly what the deal was, but it was pretty clear that was coming next.

over any 'official act' while he is in office. This would seem to fall into that category.

As I have stated before, TRUMP is the greatest argument in favor of
VIGILANTE JUSTICE that I have ever seen in my lifetime,
or remember from American history....

His only risk of going to jail is after he is out of office...

Personally, I don't believe he will survive his current term or office,
nor do I believe that he DESERVES to survive it.

I would say orders from two courts to pay from contingency funds are pretty clear "guidance."

His only choice is to appeal. I seriously doubt they are stupid enough to do that and prove how hellbent they are to starve people.

I believe his hand has been forced on this one. But I suppose we can never underestimate their cruelty and stupidity.
