I cannot imagine being a black person, LGBTQ person, or a woman reading that vomit they sent out about Charlie Kirk to their employees.
It was a flowering message about " our hearts are heavy", " he was a man of faith" - They called what Matt Dowd said insensitive.
Nothing about all the hateful things Kirk has said- Nothing about what he said about Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, Michelle Obama or Joy Reid. He claimed they all stole a white person's spot and are not intelligent. That from someone that never even completed community college.
Did they ever stop to think how insensitive their message was to their minority staff that were under attack?

Maybe they take in the complaints and set up some ombudsmans office or department that allows for employee complaints but may or may not address the problem in any meaningful way. Perhaps they think they really are solving whatever problem it is - by creating a safe place to vent where you may or may not face consequences for doing so.
Its very human to hold a grudge. Its how that grudge is acknowledged, and gets dealt with. Not sure weve all solved that problem yet, if ever.

So long long ago, wow, and Captain James T. Kirk of the Starship Enterprise is (was) still holding on to that? (Edit: I looked at the tweet again, and it's dated 2015, duh me).
(OK, Charlie Kirk isn't that one, but every time I see "Charlie Kirk", it's "Captain Kirk" and then "Captain James T. Kirk" that flies through my mind. I can almost see Spock telling me "that's illogical" )
EDIT - now that I think about it, in 1996 she was First Lady when she visited Tuzla Air Base
She became a senator from New York in January 2001 to January 2009 (and campaigned in the Democratic primary for president in 2008)
and became Secretary of State in January 2009 when Obama became president
Kirk's "She dodges sniper fire. #SaySomethingNiceAboutHillary" tweet was April 2015 (presumably she was gearing up for a 2016 presidential run then)
In case of confusion about the time line of things

(53,499 posts)Film shows routine landing at Bosnia airport
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2008/mar/26/hillaryclinton.barackobama
Wed 26 Mar 2008
Hillary Clinton has had to admit that she exaggerated her claim of coming under sniper fire during a visit to Bosnia in the 1990s, after video footage showed the then first lady walking calmly from her plane. The Clinton campaign played down the episode as a "misstatement" and a "minor blip". But it was seized on by supporters of her rival for the Democratic nomination, Barack Obama, as further evidence of Clinton inflating her foreign policy experience during her time in the White House.
The row centres on remarks she made during a campaign stop in Washington DC last week. Keen to talk up her experience, she spoke vividly of what seemed a harrowing and dangerous trip she made in March 1996 to Tuzla airport in Bosnia. "I remember landing under sniper fire. There was supposed to be some kind of a greeting ceremony at the airport, but instead we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base."
Reporters and others accompanying Clinton recalled the landing at Tuzla as being routine. On Monday night, after days of argument, CBS settled the matter, unearthing film confirming there had been no sniper fire. The outcome was a rare retreat by Clinton, the first time since she began campaigning more than a year ago that she has publicly admitted making an error. At a press conference in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, yesterday, she said: "So I made a mistake. That happens. It shows I'm human, which for some people is a revelation."
She sought to hit back by stoking up the row over Barack Obama's fiery pastor, claiming that she would have left any church where such intemperate remarks had been made. "He would not have been my pastor," Clinton said, in her first public comment since the row began more than two weeks ago. Obama has remained in the pastor's church for 20 years. In a dig at Obama, she said: "You don't choose your family, but you choose what church you want to attend. "Everyone will have to decide these matters for themselves. They are obviously very personal matters ... I think the choice would be clear for me." The Obama camp immediately accused her of trying to divert attention away form the Bosnia sniper incident.

The first show obviously was produced without much input from the higher ups: it was honest, focused on fact, utilized truth telling guests with FBI experience. The next day was much, much different. Hedging comments, over the top empathy for Kirk, etc. I turned it off.

(39,939 posts)If the advertisers are Chump-loving MAGAs, or just conservative one-per-centers, they will be concerned and perhaps even cancel their business if NBC looks like it's going "woke" and anti-Chump.
I'm sorry to break this bad news to you, but this is the reality in America. The TV advertisers pay their bills and that's what pays NBC's salaries and keeps the lights on.
Let's maybe examine who the advertisers are on the major networks, and what influences their decision-making. How can we influence them about what should be considered news and editorial matter on the public channels?
Turning off the news in anger doesn't change a thing.

As for me, I'll let my eyes do the talking. I'm not going to watch bullshit. In recent weeks I've slipped up a little on that front but now it's back to boycotting except for specific hosts for a few minutes here and there.
I realized quite some time ago that MSNBC is some sort of money laundering front. They don't give a damn about viewership and will randomly fire a host at the drop of a dime.

Which IMHO is a responsible position since plenty on the right are being irresponsible at this point. Dems are typically the adults in the room -- a heavy and difficult burden sometimes.
Doesn't mean it will be their stance in a week or month once the right stops foaming at the mouth. Sane people know the truth about Kirk. Or...will, sooner or later.
