Republican Storms Out of Back Door After Being Laughed At During Town Hall

A Republican congressman left a heated town hall via the back door after he was relentlessly laughed at and heckled while trying to defend President Trump.

Rep. Barry Moore was hammered with tough queries—and more than a few heckles—during a raucous town hall in Daphne, Alabama.

The tense showdown was captured in a 40-minute video from the advocacy group Indivisible Baldwin County. It shows Moore squirming under relentless questioning about Medicaid cuts, the closure of rural hospitals, Trump-era tariffs, immigration crackdowns, abortion bans, and even the deployment of the National Guard in Washington, D.C..

Moore’s attempts to respond were drowned out with laughter and interruptions. At one point, the audience openly mocked his evasive answers.

By the end of the night, the Republican lawmaker had had enough, cutting things short and slipping away through an exit rather than facing his increasingly hostile crowd.

I have family there, going back several generations, and I have a fairly good sense of what goes on. The voters will either stay home or hold their nose and vote for this guy or another Republican once the issue du jour is provided to them. They will not switch parties in all likelihood.

Is it possible to run an independent against him?

snip
Independents are a growing cohort of voters—according to Gallup, more Americans identify as independents (40%) than as Democrats (29%) or Republicans (30%).
Independents overwhelmingly identify as “moderate” and state they agree with both major parties on certain issues. For example, independents tend to trust Democrats more on abortion, healthcare, and climate change, while they prefer Republicans on the economy, gun rights, and immigration.
Despite their numbers, millions of independents are excluded from primary elections across the 15 states with closed congressional primaries and the 22 with closed presidential primaries.

Link

If you read this study, published last fall, it says that people who are largely moderates, don't like either party because of extremism.

Here's a link that tells how various states do primaries.

It may be solidly republican, but I doubt (m)any of us are under the impression that the current regime intends to allow voters to decide the results of elections going forward.

Too bad he didn't get called out on the crackpot ideas when there was a chance to stop them being enacted.
