A memo from the Office of Management and Budget on Tuesday said that the Medicaid program would continue without pause, and Karoline Leavitt, the White House press secretary, said that the White House was aware of the outage and was working to have it back online shortly.

(3,099 posts)They had already said that Medicaid was exempted from the funding freeze. But when people started shutting down all the funding systems portals, they neglected to remove Medicaid from the list so it got shut down too.

(227 posts)But did not say Medicaid was exempted. So, yes, it's incompetence on the part of the administration, but not necessarily by the people who were shutting down the portals. They were just following orders.

(3,099 posts)this afternoon. The fact that we're hearing reports of funding portals being shut off earlier today across a wide spectrum of programs, that leads me to believe the early shutdown was intentional.
By the way, this article explicitly says OMB included Medicaid, Food Stamps and head Start in the exemption.
