(2,361 posts)Not much that we didn't know---and the suggested solution is not one of the four that have ever worked (according to The Great Leveller--the book referenced). It is suggested that organizing the masses might be the least destructive way to handle a budding oligarchy. And that leaders like Biden are too middle-ground to be able to do it. Maybe a younger Bernie Sanders type?
Scary stuff. Otherwise, we'd need a plague, total war, a revolution (I forget the last equally horrible change agent).
EDIT--state collapse is the fourth.

(12,155 posts)No government can function for long when vast amounts of money are prevented from going to their intended purpose. As just one example of unnecessary diversion of taxpayer dollars, Trump has announced $500 billion dollars for data centers when the tech corporations that want them are flush with money and can afford to build their own data centers. But everything Trump and Republicans do is to benefit the rich.
When Republican voters start seeing family die because they can no longer afford insulin, will even that change their minds about Trump and the Republican Party? Or will it be when their elderly relatives get kicked out of Medicaid-supported nursing homes and are sent to their relatives to die?

(14,876 posts)we get to this idea the better... The trick is to get the millions of people around the world to get motivated to stop the oligarchs, with out using total war, state collapse, violent revolution or plague..
Progress not perfection...
This was a great post.
