We're still entangled with the Federal Government, and for a legitimate reason.
For any of the states to untangle themselves, even with California as the fifth (or fourth) largest economy in the world is an expensive and legally complex effort, and that's if both sides are acting in good faith.

The same argument made against Texas Secession works against California; and we've got just as much Federal Land and just as many Federal Employees/Employers in this state.

Id love the thought, but that ship sailed in 1865.

background
The MAGA crowd in Northern California have wanted to secede, they call it the “free state of Lincoln”

Blue states need to hold the Union!

If California peels off. It will splinter into small powerless states.
I will not let the fascists take my country - NOT one state!

The Kremlin wants to break apart the USA and this secessionist madness is their playbook.

Texas secession has about as much luck passing as "Every Sperm Is Sacred" bills.

I wish Texas would secede, so we could finally convince hubby, kids and grandkids to GTF outta here, but it's not gonna happen.
