In a two-page memo, the Office of Management and Budget ordered all federal agencies to temporarily suspend payments.

One week in, the Trump administration is broadening its assault on the functions of government and shifting control of the federal purse strings further away from members of Congress.

President Donald Trump’s budget office on Monday ordered a total freeze on “all federal financial assistance” that could be targeted under his previous executive orders that pausing funding for a wide range of priorities – from domestic infrastructure and energy projects to diversity-related programs and foreign aid.

In a two-page memo obtained by POLITICO, the Office of Management and Budget announced all federal agencies would be forced to temporarily suspend payments, while making clear that Social Security and Medicare would not be affected.

“The use of Federal resources to advance Marxist equity, transgenderism, and green new deal social engineering policies is a waste of taxpayer dollars that does not improve the day-to-day lives of those we serve,” according to the memo, which three people authenticated.

Republican MOCs too tbh but they’re so far into the cult, I don’t expect them to react

Then I followed up with resistbot. I was too exhausted to write my own email and let the AI do it for me. I can't go to bed without doing *something* even if it's basically collaborating with the tech that I lost a job to last year.

This is Kafkaesque.

If the violate the terms of ongoing grants--money already formally committed--there are in breach of contract. Any lawyer here who can confirm or refute that?

I guarantee you that there are many Trump voters who are affected by this. No one voted for this. We have already seen Trump voters on social media crying because their child care payments have been cut or they are afraid that their family members are going to be deported by ICE. We need a General Uprising. These Right Wing Tyrants should be overthrown.

That money was allocated by Congress and he does not have the Constitutional authority to stop the funds mandated by law.

Justice matters.

So? He's doing it again... surprise, surprise... this time on a much bigger scale, and we know "they" will not "remove" him again, no matter if he loots the Treasury for himself and his damn tech fascists.

Cowards... supposed to defend the constitution... yeah... that's less important than losing their seat and getting thousands of death threats a week.

Congress passed the appropriations bill and the President signed it into law. So how is this legal? Also, isn’t this really a partial government shutdown? Taking this amount of money suddenly out of the economy will threaten to throw the economy into recession. This knee jerk maneuver is beyond stupid.

15. Killing The Economy
Tue Jan 28, 2025, 12:40 AM
Tuesday

Large parts of the economy depend on federal monies. For example, the salaries of Doctors and Social Workers who work in a health clinic may depend on Medicaid to fund their jobs. Not only are patients harmed, Doctors, Nurses and others will not get paid.

This is one of many examples of jobs that depend upon federal money. The right wing idiots are going to pole ax the economy. Frozen salaries for Doctors, Nurses, and Social Workers means that mortgages are not paid, car payments are missed, and so on. This is going to have a ripple effect on the economy.

Expect a widespread revolt. They are not just harming the sick, the elderly, and the disabled. They are harming all of the professionals that care for all of these people. Trump and his people are out of their damned minds. They are going to kill the economy.

I would put the author(s) of this on death row (as it will cause a lot of death), and give them 48 hours to either face the needle, or else produce solid proof that federal money was being used to “advance Marxist equity,” and define specifically what that even means, or, as an option, go on prime time national television and admit they lied and made it up, and on whose orders.

Wanna bet some of them are so far gone that they would rather face the needle?
