This can't last very long.

If what we've seen so far is an example of a second Trump administration, and we know that it is exactly that, people are going to get frustrated in a hurry.. We're already seeing the results of his inability to communicate and make decisions as his dementia and senility just get worse. Public pressure not only terrifies him, it makes him more stupid than he already is.

He won this election on the margins, razor thin as the pollsters kept saying it was. If this keeps up, he'll be at 35% job approval by the time the inauguration rolls around, and I won't believe any poll numbers any news media puts out at this point. It will all be manufactured garbage.

Years ago, when I lived in South Texas, I saw a t-shirt that a guy was wearing that said, "Lord, please let there be one more oil boom and I promise to save some money this time."

"Lord, let the Democrats have just one more shot at controlling the White House and Congress at the same time and we promise to take steps to preserve Democracy this time."

Or a bit more costly but more effective ---- Disney has these animated figures... I recall, one of them was Lincoln. He got off his chair and talked to me and other people in the audience.

How many times will the people respond to the "save democracy" cry when the party's effort is only half-assed? How many first time voters got out in the pandemic in 2020 to save democracy only to watch the DOJ slow-walk their investigations. Boxes & boxes of documents & the man walked free everyday. I don't think he was even brought in for questioning. Instead, he was treated with kid gloves & we let him run for president again. Honestly I'm surprised democratic turnout was as good as it was this year & I give all the credit to Harris & Walz & their incredible campaign.

I saw this on FB. Print it out & shove it in maga faces if they start talking "mandate" on Christmas. Ha ha. Carter did better than Trump, & look who's at the very bottom. Suckers.

And I think you are 100% correct about people staying home and not voting because of what Garland did not accomplish. That's what I voted for in 2020, how many of the Democrats who stayed home got the message that, in spite of all of the "existential threat to democracy" rhetoric, actions spoke louder than words. Frankly, it was hard to take that seriously, seeing the Justice department rush to get indictments and persecute Hunter Biden, but never get around to getting things going on Trump's insurrection or stolen documents trials. 150,000 voters staying home in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan, and Trump wins by the narrowest, razor thin margin. Analyze it. Did they stay home because Garland's actions at the DOJ nullified the "existential threat to democracy" rhetoric?

No one has satisfied me in answering the question about how serious they were about prosecuting him. And I'm damn angry about it.

Elon thinks he's President now, and this will not sit well with Trump. Trump is drooling over having Elon's billions backing him, but he never thought Elon would try to replace him. Trump can't attack Elon, and he doesn't know how to negotiate, or even have a plan so they can work together. According to Trump, there is only one king.

when his people swoop in to round up migrants and asylum seekers for deportation. His fascistic base will turn out cheering the forced deportation of "those people," saying things like "this is what we elected him to do." Who knows, maybe they'll come up with a new arm salute as the uniformed henchmen march past.

They respect the office of POTUS.

That doesn't mean they need to respect the person who holds the title.
The two are not the same.

People respected and liked Obama and Biden. Because of whom they are, the good things they did - not simply because they were Presidents in their time.
Respect needs to be earned by good actions, not a title.

But people confuse and conflate the two.

There is no way President Musk, spare wheel Donald and stand-by-spare-boy Vance will do good for the average American citizen.
Just the opposite.

In four years, they never got any of the federal charges to a trial. They barely got indictments after two years of doing absolutely nothing at all, and yet trying to convince the American people they were doing something. History will record Biden's appointment of Merrick Garland as attorney general, and his failure to prosecute one of the most notorious insurrectionists in American history, as the biggest failure of his Presidency.
