PA-SEN: Why the Democratic senatorial campaign is suing Bucks County over provisional ballots

The Bucks County Board of Elections is being sued again.

A lawsuit alleges that it disenfranchised voters in the Nov. 5 election when it rejected provisional ballots for errors made by poll workers.

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee filed the legal challenge in Bucks County Common Pleas court Tuesday asking a judge to require the county to count 74 ballots that weren't tallied “simply because the ballots were not enclosed in a secrecy envelope.”

The challenge comes one day after Pennsylvania’s highest court ordered counties to reject ballots with deficiencies including incorrectly dated outer envelopes cast in the general election.
