WESTMINSTER, CA --- A peaceful Sunday evening took a terrifying turn when a father and his young daughter were attacked in the heart of Westminster.
The incident occurred just outside the Westminster Police Department, where a man bravely protected his three-year-old daughter from an unprovoked knife attack.

The father and daughter were enjoying a leisurely stroll when a woman, now identified as 43-year-old Victoria Vu, allegedly launched a violent assault.
Authorities report that Vu, believed to be unhoused and often seen in the area, threw a bottle at the pair before advancing with a knife, attempting to harm the child.
In a courageous act of parental instinct, the father intervened, sustaining multiple stab wounds to shield his daughter.

[snip]

Amid the chaos, an unidentified good Samaritan played a crucial role in thwarting the attack.
This bystander stepped in to assist the father, allowing him the opportunity to escape and call for emergency help.
The police are actively seeking this hero, reviewing security footage to identify and thank him for his bravery.

However, the story is accurate and it really did happen in Westminster, CA last Sunday.

I should have checked first to see if other news sites covered the story.

Turns out, NBC News, CBS News and KGET-TV also covered this story.

(I knew nothing about absolutenews.com before, and will not use them in the future)

It's hardly news that America has mentally ill people living on the street, most all of whom have large knives on them.

It's just something that America doesn't actually give a flying fuck about, until a charismatic victim appears.

from the horror and danger of the situation. There is no reason that every person in this country shouldn't have a roof over their head and yes, I will hold liberals' feet to the fire 🔥 because they're not doing enough! In my area there are people sleeping in doorways but they had a sense of urgency regarding housing the migrants. It's infuriating.

Many mentally ill homeless people are on the streets. IT is terrible this happened, but the source you posted makes Vu sounds like some kind of Manson-like predator.

I admitted that I should have checked first to see if other news sites had covered this story.

Also, imo, this mentally ill woman's knife attack on an innocent toddler might well be described as an act of a "Manson-like predator."

She used a knife? The similarities pretty much end there.

I cannot believe you just called that woman Manson-like predator.

Good God.

And no, it is not an "actual news source." It is a scraper that doesn't gauge or weigh the source.

BTW, Absolute News IS an actual news source.
It's not. It's an aggregator/spinner. It's also bogged down with AI art. Come on.

They call them individuals "experiencing homelessness"

IMHO, this is the kind of thing that cost us the election.

That more-respectful language probably didn't cost Dems the election - it was vibes.

I don't think I heard either candidate mention the homelessness crisis. Or the opiate/methamphetamine crisis. Or the mentally ill wandering the streets with giant knives crisis.

Certainly, MFer didn't. Maybe Harris did and I missed it.

Don't give me cutesy PC lingo like "unhoused" and not do jack shit about it. The homeless situation in California is insane. I have seen videos driving down blocks or miles of filth, debris, etc. I am actually surprised that this situation with the stabbing isn't happening more often although I heard that in SF the office workers and people who live and work in the area feel unsafe due to the encampments.

Seattle has $111 million budgeted for this year. The scale of the problem and the overwhelming cost and logistics of "solving" it are beyond any city's capacity. Or county. Or state.

It's a FEMA-level disaster.
