A hellscape is coming ...
"This constant lying is not aimed at making the people believe a lie, but at ensuring that no one believes anything anymore. A people that can no longer distinguish between truth and lies cannot distinguish between right and wrong. And such a people, deprived of the power to think and judge, is, without knowing and willing it, completely subjected to the rule of lies. With such a people, you can do whatever you want."
Attributed to Hannah Arendt
Keep in mind, mass media are owned and operated by corporations spreading lies for profit. What ever the market will bare and market is lies; it costs less to tell a lie than expend the energy to find the truth. Leaving consumers ignorant cynical and empty.
The people of USA are in for some seriously dark times.

(16,770 posts)Over time it creates passivity and a sense of powerlessness. But for people who are curious and hungry for the truth, and can discriminate between news and propaganda, we can still know the truth--although it's sort of a thankless, hopeless task trying to convince MAGA cultists. We will have to be content just to know the truth for ourselves, and for the sake of knowing.

No, only certain people. The great majority will be oblivious, they go to their jobs, get their paycheck, and believe. The "rule of law", great institutions, are all meaningless abstractions. Trump has preyed and prayed on this for years, and always gets away with it. His maga people will not see "dark times", not even cloudy ones.
