Which I think is fairly likely.
I think that the Trumpanzees will go then crazy, claiming that Trump was murdered, and they'll claim that Vance was behind the murder. (Which is not all that unlikely.) Vance will struggle along for the remainder of the presidential term with the Trump cultists shrieking at him and with Congressional GOPers afraid to cooperate with him because of their fear of those cultists.
As a result 2026 and 2028 will (finally!) bring the yearned-for Bluenami.
That's the sunniest scenario I can come up with.

Or more likely
he is forced to resign with an explanation that he wants to spend more time with family
or something.
The Felon doesnt trust Vance and he doesnt need him or Peter Thiel.
Why? Hes got Musk who does things with a hammer
and Trump prefers the mobster way

(1,147 posts)As to the MAGA monkeys having a conspiracy breakdown, all it will take is for Trump to step down, giving Vance all the good talk up about how great he's going to be, and do everything Trump would, and then it's done, no one complains, no one doubts any of it. Trump goes away to Mar a Lago and dies in his sleep. It's amazing what they can do with drugs and the right words in Trump's ear. You could convince someone of anything. Like having a Manchurian candidate, really.
Project 2025 forever!

(90,521 posts)due to bad health. And Vance not getting the cult support. Especially becsuse Vance is boring and those people enjoy the chaos and "entertainment" that Trump brings.

Vances old anti-Trump statements might not be as long forgotten as you think.

(44,620 posts)DUers have been predicting it since 2016 and if our best strategy is to assume he's going to die in the next year, or as one post suggests, six months, we're more fucked than we think.
