Walmart CFO says some prices might rise if Trump's tariffs take effect

“We never want to raise prices,” John David Rainey, the company’s CFO said in an interview with CNBC on Tuesday. “Our model is everyday low prices. But there probably will be cases where prices will go up for consumers.”

“Tariffs, though, are inflationary for customers, so we want to work with suppliers and with our own private brand assortment to try to bring down prices.”

In sum, WalMart will raise their prices next year.

Yeah, especially if there's a 60% tariff on Chinese imports. That's about 80% of Walmart's crap. sinkingfeeling 13 hrs ago #9
And they'll raise prices on the remaining 20% as well. Yavin4 13 hrs ago #11

Since the pandemic. And quality has dropped. The same for many other stores. I used to shop a lot in places like Michael’s craft supplies and other saving type of stores. They used to have much better quality merchandise and it was less expensive. Now they are all stocked with a bunch of crap, which is also overpriced.

Already been having ‘fun’ at my local Walmart with Red Caps… little snide remarks about how prices will increase with tariffs. Mostly say something to my wife in a loud enough voice to be overheard. Lots of other wives elbowing their hubbies. Don’t really know what it means…but.
