Hold on Admins, we need a reality break
Sams funeral on General Hospital. One of the few soap operas left. Sam is of the Cassadine family who had the world freezing machine in Port Charles (maybe a Greek island) but Luke Laura and Scorpio foiled that.

In the last two weeks my wife lost her father
while she was in Georgia our dog got hurt. Hes in the cone one more day. My wife got walking pneumonia. Tonight, between me shuttling her to the urgent care I FINALLY got her to go to (she takes after her Dad when it comes to medicine) and the ER, shes home.
Breath. Food. What do you want to watch?
Do you mind if I watch my recap of General Hospital?
Me: sounds great.
Sounds weird watching a funeral but its calm.
We need some calm.

(18,598 posts)We all need our guilty pleasures now more than ever. I watched a Christmas cookie cutter rom com and found it soothing, not long ago I would have smirked my way through it if someone forced me to watch one. This year Im all in. 🙂

(1,690 posts)GH is a good distraction. Ive watched it on and off for forty years. And yes, Sam DIED died (actually, the veteran actress got fired for criticizing the firing of a fellow actor - who then died in real life). The actress was shocked, as was the audience. Personally, I wouldnt call the funeral scene today a stress reliever but whatever works during these trying times.

Later in the episode an actress who hasnt been on in years woke from a coma. Because, of course. I looked at my wife and asked Sams spirit?!?! We both cracked up.
DET
(1,690 posts)Sam died as the result of a liver transplant to the comatose patient, who is the daughter of Laura (of Luke and Laura fame from the 70s). I know - TMI.
Interesting

(94,623 posts)I planned to watch a movie a night just to take me out of the real world, but could only make it through Order of the Phoenix. Then I read the rest of the books.
Spoiler alert: the evil guy bought the farm.
Hope your wife (and doggo) return to full health soon, and meanwhile you stay well too. I totally understand the appeal of soap operas at this point.

I'm sorry for the loss to your family and the events that sometimes seem to spring forth from a death in the family.
