NC Democratic Party: Justice Allison Riggs wins election to retain her seat on the North Carolina Supreme Court

This race was called by another outlet for Justice Riggs a few days ago. However, most outlets have this race as “too close to call.” Justice Riggs is leading her Republican challenger by 625 votes and I believe a recount has been requested.

We won’t have the chance at flipping party control of the NC Supreme Court until 2028. Justice Riggs keeping her seat gives us a little wiggle room in case we lose a race. The only other Democratic justice, Anita Earls, presumably will be running to retaining her seat in 2026. Then, in 2028, three Republicans are up for reelection.

North Carolina voters have spoken and Justice Allison Riggs has been elected to keep her seat on the NC Supreme Court! This is a huge win for our state. Let this race serve as a reminder that every vote counts!
