Comcast is spinning off MSNBC

I am not sure if this is good news or bad. The whole article is behind the WSJ paywall so I can't read all the details.

Breaking: WSJ says Comcast IS "moving forward with a plan to spin off its NBCUniversal cable TV networks." The company "will separate off entertainment and news channels including MSNBC, CNBC, USA, Oxygen, E!, Syfy and Golf Channel..."

So now we buy cable access and comcast sends that money to stations, MSNBC and the others will have to arrange with each cable provider? Or not?

That's how spin-offs work. Its also in the article: "The spin-off’s ownership structure will mirror that of Comcast."
