The corporate media thought that they could support Trump and the audience would come back to them after the election. They were very wrong.

Audiences Are Fleeing Mainstream Media
The biggest media companies badly wanted Donald Trump back in the White House.
They missed the days when they were the center of the news as a fearful nation turned to them to hold Donald Trump accountable.
However, the writing was already on the wall weeks before the 2024 election. When Jeff Bezos ordered The Washington Post to withhold its endorsement of Kamala Harris, which resulted in a reader rebellion with hundreds of thousands of canceled subscriptions, the message to the largest media companies and their billionaire owners was loud and clear.
Democrats would not tolerate big media supporting Donald Trump. More importantly, they wouldnt stick around and give their attention and dollars to outlets viewed as bending the knee to Trump.
Trump won a low-turnout election. Big media got what they wanted.
Mainstream media thought they would be the gatekeepers again, but something funny happened.

(165 posts)I stopped watching regularly about 2 years ago . And this entire year, I restrict myself to occasionally watching Lawrence ODonnell or Rachel Maddow,

(307 posts)Even on ODonnell and Maddow. They were a little smug/sure of themselves before the election. While I appreciate that they alerted us to the dangers of a 2nd Trump term, now that hes re-elected, whats the point of watching them?

As someone who will likely lose access to essential healthcare -- and withany of my friends and family in the same situation -- I'm among those who would rather stay informed.
I get my news from other, non opinion sources. Im a disabled vet who will lose resources.

(941 posts)It's through Best Buy and only works if you've never had a subscription to Apple TV. Hint hint though. It'll work even if you have had a previous subscription - just so long as you use a different email account. Best Buy will email a code to your email. Use that to log in to Apple TV. Enjoy!

(1,147 posts)I'd basically stopped watching more than a minute or two of CNN, since they had so much fun putting up Republican idiots and letting them lie, lie, lie.
I haven't watched local news in years, don't check news on my email provider sites, typically ignore most stuff people post here, especially if they link drop and run. Don't even glance at any newspapers or magazines in stores.
After 11/5, I just don't really care anymore. I don't know why I let myself come back here and read anything, since there's nothing I can do about any of it. I suspect some votes were not counted, or stolen outright, but if Harris won't do anything about it, what does it matter.
Trump today, Trump tomorrow, Trump forever! Amen, pass the crow, brother.
