Democratic Congresswoman's Transgender Daughter Arrested

U.S. House representative's daughter was arrested in Boston on Saturday, when an anti-abortion demonstration drew counter-protesters.

Riley Dowell, a 24-year-old transgender woman who police identified by her birth name, was arraigned at Boston Municipal Court on Monday on charges of disorderly conduct and interfering with lawful assembly. She is the daughter of congresswoman Katherine Clark, the Democrat from Massachusetts, who has served as minority whip since 2023.

On Saturday, clashes began after several hundred people attended a National Men's March to Abolish Abortion and Rally for Personhood demonstration, which began outside a Planned Parenthood facility on Commonwealth Avenue, local media reported. A similarly sized group of counter-protesters opposed the demonstration.

Dowell received a pre-trial probation term of one year, with the case dismissed if she fulfilled a number of conditions, including 30 hours of community service, a letter of apology to the injured officers and restitution for expenses incurred removing the paint.

Rep. Clark was herself arrested in July 2022 during a demonstration after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. In a statement at the time, she said: "I am furious and heartbroken, and I will proudly fight for our right to abortion. They can arrest me, but we won't allow them to arrest freedom."

Love Democratic Whip, Katherine Clark of Massachusetts. We are proud of her accomplishments.

As a side note here…I can’t imagine the pain she is going through with the legislation that Mace is trying to push through to discriminate against our first Transgender Congresswoman.

interesting that all of the felon's picks namely Gaetz and Hegseth have shady circumstances of encounters with women. They all seem to have that in common rapists, assaulters, and pedophiles. They all hate women.

Rape is not a crime. In fact it makes a male eligible to hold high office.

Trump is telling women what he thinks of them.

All we can do is make some survival plans.
And hope it will not be as bad as we fear.

I wish officers wouldn’t get hurt or worse. They are just doing their job and shouldn’t be touched.

Boston cops have a horrible history of abuse on the job, corruption in general, and ignoring laws that should protect everyone. They have maimed and killed legal, peaceful protesters in the past, and when these rightwing events have happened in the past, are clearly allied - as a group in general - with fascists, even when those fascists are breaking the law.

I'm only glad that Nancy Mace was so clear that she is targeting Rep. McBride specifically. Isn't there some rule about disrespecting fellow Congress members?

They threw that out the window years ago, even though it's still on the books.
