New Gallup poll finds 52% of Ukrainians "would like to see their country negotiate an end to the war as soon as possible

KLIPNEWS@klipnewsorg

New Gallup poll finds 52% of Ukrainians "would like to see their country negotiate an end to the war as soon as possible."

Of that 52%, half think Ukraine "should be open to making some territorial concessions as a part of a peace deal to end the war."

This makes me so sad for Ukraine people but I also totally get it, the war has ravaged them so. Putin is a despicable man who has no right to even an inch of Ukraine.

1. This is how Gallup manipulates their polls for Trump

just as they always do for GOP. They do whatever serves Trump’s framing.

2. 52% for a nebulous possible pie in the sky settlement is immaterial

The salient implication is that roughly 75% will not consider peace if it means giving up territory.
See how easy that is? This is framed as Gallup would like the data to be understood by stupid people as
are most polls these days.

Hat tip to blm above who evidently sees it for what it is.

4. The poll is meaningless to Trump and that is all that matters now.

This doesn't help him market a reason for concessions, they are coming regardless and the 25% likely understand that reality.

3. Sadly, percentage favoring ending war -- even if it requires territorial concessions -- has been increasing each year.

" . . . . . . Ukrainians’ current attitudes toward the war represent a decisive shift from where they stood after it began in late February 2022. Surveyed in the months after Russia launched its full-scale invasion, Ukrainians were defiant, with 73% preferring fighting until victory.

"In 2023, support for fighting until victory slipped, but more than twice as many Ukrainians favored a continued fight (63%) over a negotiated peace (27%). Fatigue has intensified this year, with support for negotiated peace rising to 52%, the first time it has reached a majority.

"A fair share of Ukrainians who favor negotiating a quick end to the war believe Ukraine should be open to ceding some territory in exchange for peace. More than half of this group (52%) agrees that Ukraine should be open to making some territorial concessions as part of a peace deal to end the war, while 38% disagree and another 10% don’t know. Gallup did not ask more details about the level of territorial concessions that people would be open to."

6. Yeah, and there's a Gallup poll out in which 54% of Americans believe the moon is made of green cheese.

And 89% believe dogs can talk.

Putin wants all of it. He might be willing to stop for a year or so but he’ll be back after he gets his military and economy back up to speed. I understand the Ukrainians wanting peace but it would be short lived. Putin has made very clear what his long term goals are.

Russia has the resources and manpower to win a war of attrition. There is no way for Ukrain to force a surrender.
