Brat who shot and killed his Mom and is now 12, is facing adult time.

As in 60 years in jail.

I saw a clip from "Law And Order" that showcased a psycho brat who killed a younger boy, and was killed in a hallway by the other boy's Father.

This is what I'm reminded of when I read about this little psycho.
"Oh, but Mom wouldn't buy him a VR set!"
So he threw a tantrum and shot and killed his Mom.

The Milwaukee boy charged with killing his mom when he was just 10 years old will be tried in adult court.

The boy is now 12, and until now, a court order prevented us from showing his face or identifying him by name.

The boy is Noah Mann-Tate. He's charged with shooting and killing his mom, Quiana Mann, in November 2022 inside their home near 87th and Magnolia streets in Milwaukee.

A judge ruled Monday that his case will remain in adult court.

According to the criminal complaint, the boy was in fourth grade when he shot his mom in the face at close range. Investigators say the boy was upset because his mom would not buy him a virtual reality headset.

At that age, they don’t really understand death. I’m starting to think that many in Washington DC are still 10 years old.

A clinical interview would be needed to determine intent, motive, intellectual level, awareness of consequences.

We can assume that an evaluation was performed by children's services and it was
determined the child was culpable, that is why it is ongoing.

Where a young child has committed a horrible crime.

Despite what people think, none of the professionals involved, the judges, prosecutors, police,
children's services, psychologists, nurses, doctors are at all happy to see a young child committing such
a horrible crime.

Normally for a case to be dragged out like this with such serious consequences, the psychological
evaluation resuts were grim and clear about intent and knowledge on the child's part.

It is not a happy day to do those kind of evaluations, as you listen to what the child is saying,
looking at the pictures he draws, and all the other test results pointing in a very bad direction.

The judge wants to know about intelligence, intent, family history, remorse, etc.
Sometimes all the boxes get ticked pointing to jail time. It is a tragedy all the way around.

When I worked for the paper, I had to go on interviews with parents whose children had been shot and killed. Five minutes of that interview would be exhausting. I can’t even imagine the kind of work you’re doing.

You were right at the crimes scenes and talking to people.
Often the victims of horrible crimes.

That is why we get good training.
So we can do the jobs we are hired to do.

Namely he knew what he was doing was wrong, but he's a sociopath.

I knew kids in my schools who were sociopaths, going back to 3rd grade.
They had to have anything they demanded.
They'd attack other kids with scissors or pencils or pens, I saw one 5th grader stab another in the arm, then he tried to stab the other kid in his ear. All over an argument about a TV show.

When I was in high school I knew of 2 brothers who were full psycho, both are serving time at the moment for murder.

Kids are not "innocent."
They are naive, and they can be really vicious if they are spoiled rotten.

Sounds like this kid is going to serve his time in juvie until he's 18 then he gets moved to an adult prison.

that we are discussing the case of a 10 year old - as if this was the definition of an evil and depraved human being. Have we learned exactly nothing in the last hundred years? Who reads this without immediately saying, "There's something very, very wrong here .. ?"

What’s left, life imprisonment for a 12 year old? OK, how’s that work? They going to put a 12 year old in gen pop? Or will they just put him in isolation 23 hours a day with an hour of caged outside yard time each day until he’s old enough to defend himself?

Look, what he did was wrong and horrible and inexcusable for sure, but he is a child, and an emotionally disturbed one at that. He needs to be held accountable for sure, and quite possibly held outside of the public if he cannot be treated. But “tried as an adult”? That’s not justice, it’s just vengeance.

I'm pretty sure that keeping firearms secured is an adult gun owner's responsibility.
