So - according to Russian federal port records, the Chinese ship suspected of cutting the communications cables in the Baltic Sea was captained by a Russian citizen (one Stechentsev A.E.). Interestingly Yui Peng 3 was only transferred to its current owner in China earlier this month.
The ship is carrying goods/oil from Ust-Luga in Russia, to Port Said in Egypt. Same captain also comandeered URSUS ARCTOS also carrying goods from Ust-Luga to Egypt. Mapped using @SensusQ.

And they are winning that war and the west has not even noticed or care.

and speaks with Putin and nary a visit from the FBI.
I guess DOJ doesn't want to be partisan to President-elect Musk?

Full name should be Stechentsev, Alexander Evgenievich (Стеченцев Александр Евгеньевич . A person of the same name was found in Russian court records disputing missed pay from the company OOO "Albatros". That company provides services in the port of Ust-Luga. Our guy might have been a pilot for the intial part out of port or the full journey.

A pilot is going to know the bottom of a body of water better than anyone - it's their job to do so. He probably knew exactly where the cable was.

(7,688 posts)4. Just because i dont know, do they drag something across the cable?. Im sure it is intentional.

(26,238 posts)8. Possibly. They have to grab a hold of it somehow.
...unless they're depth-bombing the cables.

(16,994 posts)6. I'm not surprised about Russian involvement, but China
China's been attempting to have its cake and eat it too. They have supposedly had buyer's remorse about that nebulous "Deal" they made that China and Russia would support each other unconditionally. (I am thinking in particular of an article that I think The Conversation published last month).
Maybe it's wishful thinking, but this has to cause a lot of embarrassment to Xi.
