Like all of us, I have been dreading the election results and the implications of this horror show.

Yet, I've been having some positive thoughts about our situation that I would like to share.

All my life (I'm 68) the "left" has always been blamed for trying to incite a revolution that would tear down the system so that we could rebuild something better. Think Patty Hearst, etc.

It turns out the "right" is forcing a revolution, one that we seem to have little power to stop at this point.

However, while we may not be able to stop it, we can determine what comes after the fall. We can build a new, better democracy that addresses the needs and dreams of everyone.

I would never call for a revolution, because we don't know what would be on the other side. However, we've got one anyway, so let's work to make the best of things and build a brighter future together.

We need a system that addresses the needs of everyone.

I don't believe that this is a "zero-sum" situation that has to have winners and losers.

There is enough for everyone.

As Captain Beefheart says in Ice Cream For Crow, "Cut the cake, we'll all do well."
