House passes major veterans care act

https://thehill.com/policy/defense/4996796-house-passes-major-veterans-care-act/

The House on Monday passed a massive bill that will fund a range of veterans care services and increase opportunities for retired service members in the workforce and education.

The Senator Elizabeth Dole 21st Century Veterans Healthcare and Benefits Improvement Act, known as the Dole Act, passed on a bipartisan 389-9 vote.

The bill is a win for Republicans who have pointed to issues with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and have called to allow veterans to access more care at home.

The bill will next head to the Senate, but it’s unclear if there is support for the legislation in the Democratic-controlled chamber.

to thousands of veterans Republican or Democrat. No time for partisan politics on this one, it has bipartisan support.
I’m a veteran in a rural setting my closest VA hospital is 1 1/2 hours away…I can get care through Community Care. Lots of paperwork and time this could simplify things.

Time and a place for everything.

There have been times I've been really sick but I chose to to tough it out rather then spending hours on the road.

Getting testing done…blood and the like…it’s not worth the drive, about an hour from me. Took out an Advantage plan but getting the VA to work with another provider is difficult…VA hates to share info. Hoping this bill could pave the way for better care in the future.

But similar to what you said, it's only good for blood work, blood pressure, height and weight measurements. Anything more involved required a trip to the VA hospital in Iron Mountain. A two hour drive.
