because they are only good for four years. I’ll have to request a mail in ballot by 2026 which I will. Most Floridians understand this and will request a new mail in in time for next election.

4. I don't live in Florida.

I do live in a state that doesn't fuck with the voters, counts all votes, and the like.

But even here, I won't consider a mail-in ballot. Making my way to a real polling place is at least as easy as getting a mail-in ballot, if it arrives, then filling it out, then getting it to a post office. Really, get your lazy ass to an actual polling place.

5. In all fairness, some of us can't get out to a polling place

In my own case, I am very recently home after 3 months in the hospital. I am house-bound, and my own mobility is measured in feet to 10s of feet. Without the mail service, I would have been unable to vote at all.

Here in my state, getting a mail-in ballot is DECIDEDLY easier than getting to a polling place, for everyone.

As it should be for everyone in other states, regardless of how much they need it; wanting or preferring or even indifference is sufficient cause -- because voting should be default accessible to all.

Back when all states had election day only voting, and you had to be 21, so college students weren't voting. And back then getting an absentee ballot was almost impossible.

With the county elections board on line. My mail in ballot was sent, received, and counted. It has my voting info n it’s public information. I could check my neighbors, if I wanted to.
