I think the Presidential election captures the politics in Florida very well

They didn't care about all of the outrageous shit Trump did because they thought the price of eggs was too high.

They didn't care about that Trump called an election official to find votes for him because they thought the price of eggs was too high.

They didn't care about that Trump riled up a mob to storm the Capitol putting the people inside in real danger because they thought the price of eggs was too high.

They didn't care about that Trump that Trump went on a pressure campaign for months that put state legislators and their families in danger because people were showing up to their houses for Trump... because they thought the price of eggs was too high.

They didn't remember that bad feeling they felt when looking at the crying children being ripped them from their mothers arms at the border because they thought the price of eggs was too high.

They didn't remember that sinking feeling watching in Trump's America where white supremacists marching with torches chanting "Jews will not replace us" and then a man ramming his car into a crowd of people because they thought the price of eggs was too high.

All of that is forgiven and water under the bridge.

That's just like Florida with Ron DeSantis.

He got reelected after the enacting unconstitutional laws. He violated the 1st amendment more than once and gets reelected.

57% of Florida voters have directly said they want abortion rights, and he won't lose any support for banning it. He was re-elected in 2022 just months after signing an abortion ban. If he could run for re-election again in 2026, he'd win... and that's after sending a threatening letter to a TV station for airing an abortion ad, a clear 1st amendment violation.

65% of Florida voters enacted an amendment giving certain felons back their voting rights. He pushed and signed legislation gutting it, and he lost no support.

All the stunts, all the unconstitutional laws, all the going against the will of the people, all the bullshit... nobody cared at the end of the day because it didn't hit them in a way they would feel.

They have correctly calculated that they can do unpopular things, and people will prioritize something else or not pay attention enough or will have short enough attention spans that allows them to get away with it.
