Technical help please, as there are no teenagers in the house.

I wanted to post a photo to DU from my library.

I posted it to IBB, then copied to DU; however, it posted the link and not the photo. I understand no one wants to open a blind link. How do I get the photo posted and not the link?

3. Try This

Very easy to use.
Click this link >>>>> https://postimages.org/
There is a button saying "Choose Images" Click that.
Select the photo you want & hit "Select".
It will upload to the server.
When done, you'll see a preview of the pic.
Scroll down to where it says "Direct Link". Click the icon to the right of that.
Now go back to your DU post and paste the link.
The picture will imbed in the DU post.
I use this all the time.

7. Another advantage of PostImages

Is that you can enter the URL (image link) of an image already on the web but for some reason will not post to DU, for example some of the impossibly long, copy-proof pix that are used on news sites.

4. AH! Here's the issue... you want this much of the URL. Pick one of the BBCodes at bottom of screen when upload

is done. Paste it in the text box on DU but strip out the marked out stuff at beginning and end, and paste the yellow only. See? It ends in .jpg

5. Great question. Presuming you're using a PC, this is the process I personally use...

(1) Go to imgBB.com...https://imgbb.com/

(2) Click on Start Uploading

(3) This will open the File Explorer app on your computer.

(4) Find the picture you want to upload and double click on it.

(5) Hit upload on imgBB

(6) On Embed Codes, make sure it says "BBCode full linked"

(7) Copy that code

(8) Open a new tab and paste the code

(9) Copy only the portion of that code that begins with https and ends with png or jpg or whatever format your picture was in.

(10) Paste this new code into your post her on DU

Ten steps sounds complicated. It really is not though.

6. Yes, I posted that just above. I don't use that app but it's fairly straightforward. What you said is 100% correct

I often use imgbb.com. It's a pain and I have to strip out the "src" URL as in reply #4 above, BUT that short URL goes into my illustrations folder, and I can use it anytime and anywhere. VERSUS

postimages. It is super handy, and drag an image (or pick from your phone's camera roll) and you got the direct URL. QUICK AND EASY. BUT go to use that URL anywhere but DU, and you get a lot of extra nonsense.

I don't use any others at this time.

I am sure that others answered your question, but I did want to point out that the imgbb URL, once you clean it, is useful everywhere with no extra stuff alongside.

For DU only, postimages saves a lot of work.
