I'm pretty damn sure Trump is out in 2026.

My logic:

1) Trump has repeatedly talked about wanting to be POTUS during the BIG 250th July 4 Celebration... with Red Square Style parades and the whol shabang, (July 4, 2026)

2) Midterms, November 2026 the governing Party usually loses seats... may or might not happen in 2026.

3) Age. He'll be 80.

4) I think he'll front-load all his accomplishments. Two (3?) new SCOTUS Judges, tearing down the Fed Gov't... Immigration, deportation, etc...

Prediction...

After November 2026 election but before the new Congress is sworn in, Trump resigns saying "I've done it all" making Vance #48 and an incumbent for 28.

Trump goes back to playing golf and watching re-runs of "The Honeymooners" eating pudding... ice cream and nachos rinsed down by Diet Coke.

EDIT: Or maybe he resigns BEFORE the elections... that way they can steal the oxygen out of the media by covering the Vance transfer/inauguration and resultant VP nomination and vote...

Then JD or whoever can have a shot at 9 years, 364 days provided anyone is still following the constitution.

It was a fair albeit horrible election of a dick-tater.

He's going to drive the clown car around for 4 years (or less), he's not hanging out there forever- republican politicians who have been spending their whole adult lives plotting their rise to the top are not going to suddenly decide they're good just staying any ambition.

Trump will spend post 2026 whining and lying about how the midterms were ‘stolen’; he’s too much of an arrogant narcissist and fascist thug to resign.

For the 200th in 1976. There was going to be a huge party, he even named Air Force One “The Spirit of ‘76” but he was denied.

will run things and are probably picking all these insane loyalist cabinet nods will keep trump busy and happy with occasional rallies where he can weave and bloviate, golf outings, KFC and more golf.

He'll be kept happy being the figure head.

He's too stupid to know it, and he thinks Vance, Musk, Theil, and the other assorted oligarchic criminals and lackeys in his electoral orbit are his friends. They aren't, and the reality show of the election has been cancelled. Why keep the host on the payroll, indeed, why would they need this fool walking around at all? Or breathing? Perhaps there's some reason, but I'm not seeing it.

This isn't Mr. Deeds Goes to Washington or All the President's Men (which seems increasingly quaint). It's more like The Godfather, only way worse. "JD Vance, do you renounce Satan."

I wonder who they will blame it on.

Not that the OP doesn't make some fine points, but here's my top five why I think not.

1. The Grift. It's endless, bottomless. Why would he give that up? Two attempts on him, that's going to be double the secret service, all staying in his hotel rooms at double the rate, renting golf carts while he cheats on 18 five or six times a week. Various interests seeking favor, filling his coffers with sweet, sweet grift.

2. Putin. He simply won't let Trump go.

3. His fragile fucking ego. He needs to be the headline every day. He also couldn't live with the idea that his replacement might be better than him.

4. It's not actual work. Picture books and bullet points. Blah blah infrastructure week, concepts of plans, blah blah. Time to play golf!

5. His dipshit followers. MAGA may see his resignation as forced, deep state stuff, "we voted for four more years!" and turn on Vance, et al for a more favorable idiot. One that we may not have even heard of yet.
