Republicans are "shocked" at Trump's appointments?

I have seen several examples where Republicans are quoted as "shocked" by the appointments of their Chosen One. Really?

Are they trying to cover their asses when (not if) the shit hits the fan?

I would say a day late and a billion dollars short.

They did not like the policies of Joe Biden and the Democrats so they voted for Donald Trump, although the economy and stock market had recovered and were flourishing. Inflation had been brought under control and the job market was one of the best in history. Still, they wanted change.

They had no problem with a mob attacking our Capitol or attempting to overturn an election.

They had no problem with stealing our nation's secrets and hobnobbing with dictators and authoritarians,

They had no problem with breaking every law on the books. But they had a problem with transsexuals in prison. They had a problem with gangs of thugs taking over our inner cities. They had a problem with illegals over-running our southern border.

In the end, what they perceived as problems over-rode what the Democrats presented as solutions.

But, they decided to buy the old Dodge from the used-car salesman and drive it home. Now, they pretend to have buyer's remorse. Now that they are in control of everything, they feel safe in blaming any problems that might arise on the used-car salesman. It's a win-win for them. They really have no more use for him.

What happens if we have another pandemic? Which side do they take - vaccine or no vaccine? It could happen.

Does anyone think anything good will come from this band of charlatans?

That’s something an authoritarian government doesn’t talk about. “If we don’t test or talk about it, like magic, it goes away.” ( along with a few million eaters, but that’s not a concern for them )
