We need a 1 term limit.

That way they do not have to give allegiance to the president of their party.
It is the only way to save our form of government long term. Otherwise there will be a strong enough cult in the future to take us down. I think we will barely make it through this time. Trump doesn't quite have that total charisma that I imagine is possible.

that six years was too long for a president to be unaccountable to the electorate and that the chance of re-election was a motivation for the president to do right by the voters at least during his first term (he did think the two term limit should have been in the constitution from the very beginning).
