I don't believe it.

'It Won't Even Be Close': As Many As 30 Republican Senators Are Reportedly a 'No' on Matt Gaetz

https://www.democraticunderground.com/10143340585

I have grossly misjudged and underestimated Trump's position in his race to Dictator. He already has Congress cowered down with no intentions of creating any resistance to Trump's Cabinet picks. Maybe Gaetz but that possibility is losing odds every passing hour. And it matters not...if it isn't Gaetz, it'll be another MAGA minion.

So soon as he's sworn in, the destructing of the Executive branch will begin in whatever direction, to whatever degree Trump orders.

The only 'check' that might slow Trump down is the courts and they can't stop him unless he violates a statute and somebody starts a lawsuit. If he decides to fire all the appointed justice and defense people, it's his prerogative.

4. You're right, of course, but I was wondering

In the past, we've seen the pantomime of "principled" GOP members who voted against Trump's wishes, or his nominations, etc.

At a glance it might seem that they were taking a brave stand, but in fact they only said no when the vote was guaranteed to pass anyway. I'm looking at you, Romney, Flake, Snow, etc. I have the sense that this was largely orchestrated by McConnell.

But now that Trump has a simple with me/against me mindset, how will these formerly principled posers react? Will they all fall into line, like the obsequious drones that they actually are? Or will they maintain the farce that they stand up to him When It Really Matters?

..when he was "learning" and before he realized how much power he had as prez and had started out somewhat following the norms. Now he's got his "mandate", is hellbent on never leaving office again and has been planning the strategy since he left office.

He is a force to be reckoned with this time...

8. Yep, and he's been thinking about missed opportunities every day since then

He's had time to get a long list of people he specifically despises and put a lot of thought into how to handle each one. He's got lists from Heritage of willing assholes ready to jump in and "replace" the human infrastructure of the federal government at every level.

We're about to witness a wondrous spectacle of global re-alignment and national upheaval, even as the consequences of climate change ravage the biosphere.

We were warned.

3. Trump will execute his absolute presidential authority

The same absolute presidential authority that cheerleaders have spent the past week telling me that it doesn't work in the way that Trump will certainly and successfully use it.
