It is the barest of bones symbolic, but I take some small sliver of solace that at least the President-Elect couldn't achieve a popular vote majority.

... because they came in late and pull Biden over blue wall.

Nothing about them this time, how can there be record early voter turnout and day of and mail ins fall flat ... whatever, people are going to feel the pain even if Benedict Donald carries out 25% of his economic plan.

I pray only MAGA feels the greater consequence and not everyone else who didn't vote for the rapist, racist, felon and theif

There is no polite way to tell somebody they believe in an illusion. Economic pain is going to be soul crushing to them because they are spiritually invested in this bloated piece of shit.

Think. Again.

It's one of the most undemocratic things in our constitution, and it needs to GO,

Yes, I know know it won't be easy. That is a separate issue from the fact that it's a VERY bad thing.

I know we want to find solace where we can, but Trump is going to handle everything the same way regardless. In 2000, George Bush lost the popular vote and still went around claiming that he had a "mandate".

Trump's supporters are way too stupid to know the difference or to care. Honestly, no members of the Democratic party felt that Bill Clinton should govern differently because he didn't win 50% of the popular vote. In his case, having Ross Perot as a 3rd party candidate affected the numbers.

Maybe some of those jokes were on DU. It was not until 2006 that I became a member of DU.

I think the term applies when the winner not only gets the electoral vote win, but the majority of the popular votes as well. As I recall, Bill Clinton was disappointed in 1996 that he just missed getting a majority of the popular vote. That lack of majority cost him the "mandate" which, as recall, he had been talking about getting.

that he has no mandate. People are not voting for dictatorship and mass deportations.
They want cheaper eggs (tariffs should help with that. ).

They are already interpreting this election as a green light for Project 2025, and I hope they
are paying attention to the response to his "cabinet" picks (insert lead balloons here).

What would happen if the continued count ultimately were to show SHE won?

I kinda doubt that would happen, but what if it DID? Would that reverse the results?
