Voters blamed Biden and Harris for inflation, was that fair?

The 2024 election was, to some extent, a referendum on inflation. Voters were mad about higher prices, and they vented their wrath on the Democrats.

Was that fair?

USA TODAY asked economists to ascribe blame for the historic run of inflation, which reached a 40-year peak in mid-2022. Inflation has cooled since then, to an annual rate of 2.6% in October. But prices are higher for good: About 21.4% higher, since February 2020, according to an analysis by the personal finance site Bankrate.

Exit polls suggest inflation loomed large in Donald Trump’s triumph at the polls. More than two-thirds of voters said the economy was in bad shape, an ABC News exit poll found. In a CBS News exit poll, three-quarters of voters said inflation was a hardship.

it is worldwide. It was a result of a world wide pandemic and our recovery was faster and better than any other country, but of course they blamed Democrats.

If a republican had been in office, they'd have blamed Democrats as well....because people are so fucking stupid I can't even deal with it anymore.

These people are so uneducated that they find four-syllable words and compound complex sentences unintelligible.

below a 6th grade level. I was in a writing group and I was told that my sentences and word choices were too complex for people to read.

Plus, I am convinced that when women speak, people simply tune out, so they don't know what was said.

with putin is bizarre and I don't understand how the justice department or the military allowed him to do it.

So it seems that fair doesn't matter anymore.

wanting to recoup losses during the Trump pandemic. People wrongly blamed the Democrats because of the Republican propaganda machine convinced stupid people that Joe Biden was jacking up prices. People in this country really are stupid.

Once prices went up during the pandemic, companies saw an opportunity to keep raising prices to maximize profits. Greedy oligarchs and corporations will continue as long as profit and share prices stay high. Just my personal opinion.

11. Inflation didn't have 1 cause

1st and foremost, the global supply chain was effectively shut down, this dramatically effected the cost of goods and raw materials. Then when factories overses were back up and running, there was a shipping container shortage that increased the cost of shipping. Delays in inventory and increased costs of materials was the primary cause of inflation.

2nd, corporate greed played a factor. Tehre's a mountain of evidence that CEOs piggybacked on inflation to chaerge whatever they felt they could get away with.

3rd, yes, people had more money in their pockets andwere willing to pay more for goods and services. The multiple Covid relief packages under both Trump and Biden led to this, but also a strong economic recovery with dramatically increased wages led to this. This type of inflation was actually a good thing IMO. Even when we saw 9%inflation, people didn't realize that wages were going up 6% or more at the time and at the bottom of the wage scale wages were going up 12-15%.

None of this was Biden's or Harri's fault. Period. And we did not see severe inflation, this wasn't like the 80s where it persisted for years, this was a few months of bad inflation preceded and followed by several months of the buiold up and draw down of inflation.

And Trump has no plan to address inflation, nor does he need one, Biden already defeated inflation. Trump's tariffs, if implemented across the board like he says, will cause massive inflation, probably over 10% for an extended period of time.

The Maggot is going to crash the economy - and blame it on Biden.

It's always our Party's fault.

Truth be told - Biden could have personally handed over a million dollars in cash to each person that voted for the Maggot on the 'bad economy' and they would have complained that he didn't iron it first.

It's what we are dealing with.

My family's safety outranks their ability to eat.

Oops! Just said the quiet part out loud that a lot of black women are thinking.

All I know is they better not ask us for jack shit the next four years.

If you want to make an impact, shop local producers, because the big chains kept prices high as their costs lowered with decreasing inflation. And they keep them high.
