Trump's victory speaks volumes about this nation's character which is not admirable. I don't know if fighting to take it back is worth it. The USA is not the only country in the world. There are others.
If I had children, I would be preparing them to think globally about their future. See to it that they learn at least one new language. Get them their passport and be open to working abroad instead of just relying on the US job market.
I don't like a majority of my fellow Americans right now, and I don't want to share a country with them.

(120,883 posts)to keep you off the other countrys welfare system or if you dont have job skills they need. It isnt an option for most retired people or for low income people- the people who will have it the worst.

The French had to live under a collaborationist regime and still resistance fighters risked and gave their lives to protect the existence of their country. They didnt forsake their nation because of who was running things at a particular point in time.

Let me guess. You're Merrick apologist.

(5,525 posts)I dont know how you go about doing it when you have a takeover like this and one party is completely corrupt. Even if divine intervention gets rid of the psycho, psycho number two and many others will take over with a stacked, corrupt court, etc.
I posted on X once again I think its time to divide the country into at least two parts. Northeast can be one and maybe join Canada although Canada is not going to want to do that. California can be their own country. They have the economy for it. Everybody else can live in their fascist heaven. There can also be a section for the extreme left wing which also seems to be intent on destroying this country as well.
If youre not happy in the area you are in you can move to another one. Also states such as NY and others which for many years paid more to the feds than they get back, should charge a fee for visitors from other sections to make up for all those years.

(3,078 posts)This country seems to be doing that now. People are moving to the state of their politics. Florida is going to be Red for the next 100 years. California is always going to be blue.
I don't know how we got here

I wont live to see Florida and thousands of miles of coastline go under, but my younger cousins will.

(1,760 posts).and Norways use of it s oil wealth, Im definitely not bailing out just yet. This is basically a good country that has lost its way since Ronald Reagan and his oligargh promoters started pushing us off course. Things just got much worse and I feel that that now is the time to, not bail out, but to up my game.

(42,960 posts)And my kids and grandkid are here. It's not the best, nor the worst, but it's mine and no asshat MAGAts are going to ruin it for me as long as I have any chance to win it back. It was a scant majority of voters and we have one of the lowest voting participation rates in the developed world. We are in crisis, but all things change. I choose hope.

Because the country and its people are worth saving.
The first of my ancestors to hit these shores did so about 1630, as a Dissenter from England. The people my family most resembles (according to old tintypes and Daguerrotypes) are the Irish who fled oppression and the Great Famine two centuries later.
The bones of my ancestors are laid across this continent my ashes will be cast to the wind and sea on the Pacific Ocean off California.
Thank you for the challenge. Sometimes I need to remind myself of these things.

An assassin for hire suggests that an American, now in danger from his own country (the US), move to Europe for a safer, relaxed life style, the American said, "I am an American and I would miss it if I leave" and the reply was, "What a pity". Even the NY Times could deny the evil that is the core of American politicians and their clandestine games of power and control for $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Nothing is certain, and no one can be trusted.
