The USA has about 60 days to save itself. Do we have the guts to do what is necessary?

And by that I mean if Trump is allowed to take office, the USA and the free world are finished. Russia will eventually take Ukraine and, from there, with the approval of Trump, will move on to Western Europe. Trump said a few months ago that "Putin should do whatever the hell he wants." And with the aid of Trump's administration, he will.

With Trump and MAGA controlling the executive, legislative, and judicial branches, there would be NOTHING to stop America's Hitler from doing everything and anything he wants. He will appoint even more MAGA (Supreme) Court justices. He will further fill the ranks of judgeships all over the country with MAGA loyalists. There will be no place to turn. And anyone who thinks the country will turn on him in 2028 is a naive fool. There is no reason to believe there will ever be a free and fair election in this country again if Trump is allowed to take office. As you know, he already said if you vote for him now, you won't have to bother voting ever again because they'll have things fixed.

Would Germany and the world have been better off if the original Hitler had been stopped in 1933 instead of in 1945 after a second world war?

Make no mistake. Project 2025 and more will destroy any semblance of a US democracy. Trump will jail anyone he wants for any reason, and there will be no one to stop him. He'a already said Liz Cheney and General Milley should be put before a firing squad. Do you really think those are just words?

Not since the first Civil War has the United States faced a threat of such magnitude. And unless Biden uses his authority as president to stop Trump before he gets started, the United States will fall onto the trash heap of history.

MAGA said there would be war if Trump lost. Well, unless there is war now, unless Biden uses every tool at his disposal--yes, including as commander in chief--then all will be lost and the only way to get our country back will still be war . . . only then it will be incrementally more difficult because Trump and MAGA will hold all the cards.

So what'll it be? Are we gonna fight--I mean really fight--to save our country, or are we going to hand it over to domestic terrorists? Is Biden going to be Churchill or Chamberlain? That's where we are, like it or not.

We can just win the election again down the road. Don't be so fatalistic. The doomsday stuff has been around my entire life. We will win again, this was an election of margins.

We were in power, we felt the voters' wrath.
In 2020, they were, and COVID was the issue then causing misery

Of course that is only true if he's allowed to assume office. Can it possibly be legally stopped? By Biden? And then where would we be?

I just don't see it happening, because I don't think there's enough popular support for President Biden to take drastic actions like that. I don't think there's any way to stop t rump from the presidency. And it follows that he'll overturn anything wants.

made a suggestion for refusing to administer the oath of office to Trump, but it won't happen. Biden would never do it and it would result in instant violence.

Kirschner said that the 14th amendment, Section 3 still holds that no one can hold office after breaking an oath and engaging in an insurrection. The Supreme Court ruled that Trump could be on the ballot, but did not rule that he could serve if elected. Therefore, Kirshner pushed the idea that Trump could still be denied the presidency.

Kirschner was blowing out empty hot air. Who would make the determination and enforce it? Nothing gives Biden that power. The SC would rule against it. If attempted, it would create an instant violent response from MAGAs.

People being attacked is what worries me most, and there are so many people in their sights. I hope to see concerted efforts to stand in the way of that. Stand right in it's way.

We're going to have to convince some maga people to stand against some of it too. My 2 cents. Most are still human.

if donnie were somehow prevented from taking office, republicans would still hold the trifecta.

it's not as if the republican party was perfectly reasonable and donnie was a singular anomaly. at this point, it doesn't really matter. vance or anyone else in the oval office would be just as much of a disaster, possibly even worse as anyone else would have somewhat more competence.

we need to accept that the fascists have taken over and we need to prepare oppositional and survival strategies.

What you seem to be suggesting is more akin to what southern slave owners did, rather than Lincoln's response.

They refused to accept the election results, and so initiated a civil war.

Is that what you're suggesting here?

But unless we, the Biden administration, use every option--including the military--to stop Trump, then everyone who has ever died in combat to save this country from fascists will, in fact, have died in vain.

But then hey, rules are rules, right? So let's play by the rules while the domestic terrorists jail journalists and late-night talk show hosts and anyone else they damn please. Let's play by the rules and watch as Liz Cheney and Gen. Milley are set before firing squads. Yah, that's the way decent people behave. They bow down to fascists and hope for the best. Good luck with that.

Much worse if Biden tries a coup using the military. Every one of the bill of rights would go out the window tomorrow. Imagine the military going door to door because someone protested the take over by Biden. Imagine when they go in to houses to search for guns with no warrants, imagine when they throw people in jail with out a trial because they voted a certain way. People on both sides would get swept up in it, people protesting those protesting the take over would get shot at just as fast as the other side.

If Biden tried to do a military coup, it would make the civil war look peaceful, and destroy everything that keeps us safe. Yes rump may try to do away with some of it, but tearing down the house of cards completely because one section could fall is much worse.

Is for Biden to attempt to stop him from taking office with military force.

The military would not follow those illegal orders and it would give Trump a fairly valid reason to declare martial law once in office to ensure the attempted coup was fully put down.

What you are suggesting makes the J6 crowd look like peaceful demonstrators by comparison.

Trump will be gone in 4 years and if he's half as bad as we think he'll be, he will usher in a blue wave of Pres/Senate/HoR for 4-8 years.

Every generation has had someone they thought was extreme and the US has survived. It will survive Trump, and it will be up to us to push it back in the right direction. These kinds of crazy, over the top suggestions of things that will never happen make it easier and easier for us to be ignored.

I don't think so. Biden is too busy entertaining Trump. Class action lawsuits should be filed against the Supreme Court for distorting the Constitution and against the Republican Party for giving us a candidate such as Trump. It doesn't matter if the suits go anywhere. Just keep filing them and if turned down, change a few words and file again. Appeal, appeal, appeal.
And, if not VP Harris, some Democratic politician's name should be out there every day. Just like Trump's has been since 2020.
