They could have barred him from any future public office, but they chose loyalty to their party over their oaths to protect and serve the Constitution. They have no spine and Trump will roll overvthem.

The GOP at any time could have said "You're a criminal, you're a liability and all these top donors and Congress members will not support you for the nomination..." I think this was always their plan but they made the fatal mistake of backing a zero charisma numbnuts who could barely win a popularity contest in his own fuckin' state (DeSantis). Once that failed, everyone fell in line behind Donnie.

Don't tell me it's impossible or it can't happen when Dems yanked Biden from the race all over a bad debate performance...

Right sure.

so people are paying attention. How tightly does Trump have a lock on their every vote and what are they willing to do for him?

I'm not suggesting they won't support policies like tax cuts and benefit cuts. But will they go further?
Hitler arrested a lot of people as soon as he came to power. But post WWI Germany was a very different place. We have to hope there is a limit to what non-sociopaths in government will do.

Especially now that the mob boss has consolidated a huge amount of power and wealth at his fingertips.

They may quibble a bit here and there, but no one will cross Trump.
No one will save America.

The answer is apparent. There are no more patriots among Republican senators, or they would have already spoken out. About the only one of them I would maybe trust is Lisa Murkowski. The rest? Compromised, complacent, and/or criminal.
