McConnell's Legacy if he leaves office

The irony is because of the very man he helped put in office and tried to keep in office by not convicting him after impeachment, that he will leave office with at least 50% of Republicans calling him a "RINO" because unless you are slavishly loyal to trump you are a traitor in their eyes.

He accomplished exactly what he set out to do. The Supreme Court alone was probably worth it to him.

He played Trump very well. Got his judges in, got that tax cut through, and staved off most of Trump's populist bullshit in favor of his corporatist policies, all while beginning the dismantling of the regulation state.

When you have that much power, what the powerless think does not matter to you in the slightest.

senate majority leader, which he attained after 30 years. He was famously open all that time for having no other ambition than exercise of great power from that position. Conservative but without particular interest in issues, ideology, or the usual legacy of worthy achievements to be remembered by, only the accumulation and exercise of personal power.

Yes, he did succeed..."outstandingly." Doesn't matter if this high court reflects his personal orientation, it serves those he allied with in his pursuit of power. His legacy will be his very significant role in the corruption and destruction of the Republican Party and great harm to our nation.

Btw, for those who haven't heard this, his lack of interest in the big issues that have passed over his desk each day for decades is famous among insiders and so profound that he's been described as not able to hold his part in conservations on many. Not that he was expected to be interested except politically.

Could he not fit a diagnosis of a sociopath? That party's drawing and breeding them like rotten fruit does gnats.

Were only 2 people in the US congress in the Republican party with integrity and honor after Jan6. Liz Cheney and Kitzinger. McConnell wouldn’t know either of those two attributes if they bit him in the ass.

He is a hero in Putin's Russia, along with Doncon.
They probably will put up a statue in Moscow for the Mitch.
