1. I have two nutjobs in my family who if they showed up at my door,

I wouldn't answer, & one I might even call the cops. Both are so far gone.

2. I am sorry to hear that. Such exasperating beliefs from a family member are hard to take.

There are such unreasonably postured people out there that it is frightening. Today, at a restaurant during the breakfast hours, I heard a manic Maga, older than I am, chattering about his intellectual understanding of Ayn Rand's books and their bearing on the present day political climate. The right-wing and Russian misinformation platforms have convinced these people that they are in intellectually superior because they access the "proper" materials which, in fact, are all rubbish. These faux intellectuals are a great risk to all of us who are true critical thinkers

3. The family member I'd call the cops on is a big Ayn Rand fan.

He hates socialism but wishes his social security check was larger. Some of the other stuff he believes is simply staggering, including that women are carrying their pregnancies to term & with the help of their doctor, executing the baby as soon as it's born. To sell off the parts, I guess. I never got any further in the convo cuz I hung up on him & haven't spoken to him since.

There is no common ground with folks like this.
