The procedure for indicting a sitting president is to impeach him and remove him from office, then the criminal case can proceed.

TFG is not a sitting president, not yet, and he has already been indicted. It would seem, therefore, that the criminal indictment would stand and his trial will proceed, the outcome of the election irrelevant tp this particular case.

IANAL, just an avid reader, and that is what I found.

Now the USSC did allow civil suits to proceed against Clinton, culminating in a perjury trap that led to his impeachment but not to his removal. My guess is that this is one decision, along with line item vetoes of the budget, that the USSC would overturn in record time should it not work in favor of the GOP. However, it shouldn't affect felony indictments that were handed down before he was nominated, much less elected.
